I'm really not sure which way I'm leaning on this. I feel like we've got to be the most motivated team to sign him. With the perfect fit he'd represent on our D, the way our DL has been wiped clean the last 8 months, the Marinelli and hometown connection... I think our intention is to 100% get this done.

Problem is there are simply teams out there that can outbid us. It's gonna be close.

He is a good fit for this defense, and I think Marinelli can be creative in how he uses Melton... if we get him, that is.

Unless his demands are just crazy, I think we have a real good shot of landing him. Then, even if it is a 3-tech, I still think they get another DT in the draft and Marinelli will have much better players up front this year.

He's been in Minnesota and Seattle and there was a report this morning that despite his visit to Dallas, he's in touch with multiple teams (including Minny, who just had a starting DT signed away this afternoon). The competition is real for Melton.

Add me to Team Anxiety. I would like to see this guy remain in Dallas with a deal that doesn't break the bank. Some on the board had speculated 5 yrs 50 million. I think we come in far below that deal. Remaining optimistic and combing twitter harder than WG on a rainy day.
