Anybody else a bit surprised?

I went to the game and I was stunned by the outcome. I really thought Jacs would handle them easily.

Two things really stuck out to me. Until the end of the game when they were coming from behind, Jacksonville really didn't try to challenge them downfield nearly enough. Wash played the run very well, but Lefty just didn't take enough shots downfield.

Second, Jacs got absolutely NO pressure on Brunell. He was totally comfortable in the pocket, which is a recipe for disaster. Once you make Brunell uncomfortable, he makes mistakes and hurries his throws.

I came away from the game really not liking what I saw from Leftwich. He's slow and plodding in the pocket... MUCH more so than even Bledsoe. And his delivery is absurdly slow. He winds up so much on every throw it seems like he's going to take a shot every time.

I was really mad at the Jags... their lack of execution ruined an otherwise great day for me! :(

What an ill feeling I have from that game. Since I live in Deadskin country, it's UNBEARABLE. Basically, everyone and their mama were crying they'd be 1-3 after Jacksonville came rolling in and left town and were asking themselves if they could be the Giants, easily marking them down at 1-4.

Now, all the sudden, they are world beaters once again. GOD I hate when the Skins win, I'll be hearing about this game for the next few days. At least Dallas took care of business, so the weekend wasn't all that bad.

I was a bit surprised that the Skins were able to get the Jags this weekend. I did not think the Jags were as good as everybody was making them out to be but they did beat us fair and square. Still, the Skinz put up numbers against them pretty easily I thought. A bit surprising to me.

i'm not surprised because we were BEATING THEM DOWN BADLY until Drew threw away the game. should have been 17-0 at half. they were exposed to the big play yesterday as we were vs the skins MNF last year.

I was very surprised at how well the Commanders played against the Jags. I thought they would struggle to move the ball against Jax's defense but they didn't have too much of a problem overall.

Brunell played well and made few mistakes, Moss made some big plays for them, they ran the ball consistently, and their defense kept the Jags one-dimentional by shutting down the run.

A very good game by the Commanders but they still almost lost it. Still, the Jags are a tough team and Washington played them much better than I expected.

I'm not surprised that we won, I am surprised that we were able to

a) run the ball at will against the best DLine in the league

b) put up 36 points against a quality opponent. I was sure this would be a 13-10 affair.

Once Springs returns, hopefully the big-plays in the passing game will go away and our defense will be ferocious once again. As it was, they seemed to get their swagger back this week. If we can go into NY this week and get a W, we should steam roll the Titans at home for a 4-game winning streak. Watch out NFC East!!

well in my opinion the crap call by the refs changed the tone of that game completely. actually the refs in that game were really bad across the board

Actually besides the fumble (and the mysterious call on the Frost punt), the refs were excellent in this game.

Jacksonville is a quality opponent, and we beat them with offense -- the thing that has been our achilles heel all season. 481 total yards and 150+ yards rushing against Jacksonville is something to crow about.

You guys should feel good about this win. It was against a tough opponent and keeps you in the division race. Congrats on this one but I hope you lose all the rest of them. :D

i saw three different times the refs called things they shouldn't have. the fumble, a reallyy nitpicky celebration call, and one other I can't remember, i shoulda stopped with 4 drinks...

I was at the game, and was too busy cheering to notice what the celebration call was. It may have been good, it may not. I think it was kind of nitpicky, but if CP and Moss were both celebrating, that's against the rules. Unfortunate, but true.

But if you think about it, every game is going to have at least a couple nitpicky or bad calls...its the rest of the game you have to look at. And like I said, I think the fumble replay was called correctly -- it should have been called down by contact at first, but replay evidence was insufficient to overturn the fumble call. :2cents:

Because you can't cry to a mod and have them banned for having a different opinion?

how big is football in aloha country?
completely off topic but it would be cool to see a pro team there

The local population wouldn't support it and there would be an overwhelming amount of military people who would still support their home team and not the Hawaii team. Same reason that I think they will never have a pro team in Norfolk VA.

Kind of a melting pot of football fans, but its mostly the Raiders and Chargers fans out here. They'll never get a team; travel would be too much of an issue. Its already bad for teams traveling from coast to coast -- its a 12+ hour flight from the East coast to HI.

They've got the pro-bowl, so that's cool.

This place isn't awful (besides the color scheme :p:), its certain posters.

Different opinion? Please read the post I quoted -- it has nothing to do with opinion. I respect people's opinions, as long as they express them respectfully. Certain members of this board (as on all boards) are incapable of that.

If they offend you, quit whining and ignore them. That might be difficult, but I'm sure if you try, and distance yourself personality-wise from your head coach, you can manage.

i think the excessive celebration call against the skins was more nitpicky than the jags call. Unless I missed something, all I saw was Lloyd picking up portis from behind. Like I said, i might have missed something, but that is all I saw.

And about the game, the one thing that really surprised me about the skins, was there offensive line. Going up against one of the best d-lines in the game, they gave up 0 sacks, and got portis to 100+ yards
