Anybody else hear Florio on The Fan say Gruden will be next HC?

Heard it yesterday and have not seen anything on here about it. He said if they don't make the playoffs then JG is out and Gruden is in.

I hope to god that doesn't happen. All Gruden does, is play mind games with his players. Yes he won a SB, but that was a VERY talented team. All he did in Tampa, was collect bad QBs. We either need a HC who can evaluate talent, or a HC with a really good Offensive system, I don't think Gruden fits either of those molds.

Well, he can focus elsewhere since we have a QB :)

After this UT speculation, I am done guessing as to what happens. If he gets fired, then I will entertain the idea and start following rumor central again.

I agree with you, I'm not excited about the possibility of Gruden either.

He's a coach who can't be trusted and he always seemed to believe that his quarterbacks were never good enough.

I think he's a QB wannabe myself.

Lol, back it up with some facts. His players loved him. Watch Warren Sapp "a football life".

I don't know, anyone who can coach Rich Gannon to a MVP type season and ride him to the AFC Championship game (which they should have won) knows something about QBs that a lot of other people don't.

Certainly!

So he had a 57-55 record with the Buccs. If you get rid of the SB year, then his record is 45-51. You really want a coach at or under .500 coaching for the Cowboys?

Agreed

Even if you want to make an argument for Rich Gannon in Oakland, two of his best years there, he had a coach who is having success with Josh McCown right now as his OC.

Dallas has the poster-boy for average as a HC now. As for the mind games, Jimmy Johnson was a master at it. Gruden may not be my first choice, but it could be worse.

And who hired him?

This is true to a point, but he did have the Raiders turned into a contending team before he went to Tampa. They were good enough to get to a SB with Callahan at the helm when he left. Not my first choice but light years better than who we have.

Although I don't think Garrett is going anywhere I would not be opposed to bringing Gruden in. He has a great offensive mind and could prolly get more out of our offense. He would need to bring in a stud D-Coord though and we still have to draft all D this year IMO.

He has been in big games and been successful, is a bit of a rah rah guy that might give these guys the swift kick in the *** they need. I think him and Romo would be thick as thieves.

We need someone that will not accept anything less than these guys best effort, on every down, in every game.

Maybe there is something to this......you never know.

lol, IF you get rid of the superbowl year, i've heard it all now.
he is a very good coach that cant even be open to debate imo . you dont take one team to the championship game(which they were cheated out of) and win one at another team without being a top level coach

His tenure in Tampa Bay tells a totally different story. Brian Griese, Chris Simms, Bruce Gradkowski, Jeff Garcia. Not exactly impressive.

57-55 with the SB is something to get excited about?

I would not argue most of it. But you had pretty much a true West Coast offense with all the pieces there. Rice, and Brown were the WRs. Dallas has no player how fits in the West Coast system.

When has Florio ever been right?

How he has a job as an insider is beyond me.

Florio created and owned PFT, and NBC wanted it. Florio, who is a lawyer, managed to make himself part of the deal. He also retained ownership of PFT, but did allow NBC exclusive rights to the site's content.

Just thought I would add that the posts I put up at PFT pointing out NBC's business relationship with the Oneida Indian Nation's casino were deleted. I wasn't banned, though.
