Heard it yesterday and have not seen anything on here about it. He said if they don't make the playoffs then JG is out and Gruden is in.

There is no possible way the he could know this to be the truth.

Either Jerry had to tell the reporter, or Jerry had to make a deal with Gruden that "hey, we want you, but only if we don't make the playoffs". In this scenario Gruden would have to have told the reporter.

I don't think you replace one kind of bad with another.

just to clarify gruden wouyld not be my choice at HC, i am a huge david shaw advocate(fresh face, fresh ideas, hungry) but gruden would be imo a big upgrade on garrett and most importantly we would have a new offense, the league has ours figufred out

Florio takes too many cheap shots but his site is one of my favorites. As for Gruden, I like his personality and I think he would be perfect in the Hollywood atmosphere. I think the next coach has to have a solution for the defense and I don't think he has that. I would rather stay away from the retreads.

He also said there were rumblings last year even during all the "wood shed" moments when Jerry was hiring new coaches that he might have been hired then, but Gruden wanted full control.

Suck for Chuck!!

I don't know much stock you can put in anything Florio says. Now, if it happens, okay. Might work out. Hard to say. I live in Seattle and people weren't all that crazy about them hiring Carroll a few years ago, and of course, now they love him. I just don't see it happening. Plus, I still can't get past how things ended for him in Tampa. That team flat quit on him at the end, when. All they had to do was win one of their last two games to get in the playoffs, against teams with poor records, and couldn't do it.

lol, IF you get rid of the superbowl year, i've heard it all now.
he is a very good coach that cant even be open to debate imo . you dont take one team to the championship game(which they were cheated out of) and win one at another team without being a top level coach

Why do so many people think the Patriots game was the championship game? Gruden lost a championship game to Baltimore. He should have had an appearance in a 2nd Championship game if not for the tuck.

And here we are in the same boat. Win two games.

I want Gruden because I think he would fit in here with this atmosphere, and secondly I want somebody new to finally be in Romo's ear before its too late. If Romo retires with only JG as his OC it will be very sad.

People overreact about Grudens coaching, but don't remember the coaching he did at GB, SF, etc. early in his career and all of those great QB's.

Romo would instantly be the best QB Gruden has had as a HC.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jerry went after Gruden. That would mean Garrett was fired which would mean this team once again failed at making the playoffs.

Jerry Jones isn't stupid. He knows that the fans are getting restless and that old "spinning your wheels" feeling is stating to creep up. So just like he did with Parcells he'll go out and find a big name to bring in in order to give the fan base a feeling of positive change.

In the end it won't matter. Jerry the GM will still be in charge and this team will still be stuck in mud going nowhere.

Who knows what Jerry will do but I doubt anyone has any idea what Jerry will do including Jerry. The season needs to be completed.

Gruden almost came here after last season. IMO, he's probably the most likely successor.

Those who wouldn't want Gruden.......WHAT? It would be be like going from stuck in neutral to 100 mph after this comatose coaching job from Red. Gruden and Romo would be a perfect match. Gruden is a heck of a coach....it wasn't just about the Tamba SB...it was making the Raiders into a championship team that had the Bucs give up a couple of 1st rounders to trade for a COACH.

This guy is exactly who I want running this team. He would bring instant life to this organization.

So, no playoffs, Garrett is going to be fired, and Jerry already has decided Gruden will be the replacement in that scenario. And this is kosher with the Rooney Rule how?

Give me someone who is doing something now with an offense as a OC or a DC who is confusing all OC's out there with schemes..Pep Hamilton/Ray Horton, or go to Stanford with several suitcases of those new, fancy $100 bills.
