I put in one of these mouthguards and suddenly won the lottery. Thing is, I've never even played the lottery.

I thought they were joking.

I don't see how a mouthpiece could improve range of motion.

Stuff like that really works. Crossfit does stuff that works like that sometimes, aligning/flexing certain joints can make something else that seems unrelated stronger. The body is not as simple as people think. It won't make you a better athlete or anything but it can improve the ability to make certain movements.

Ah you never know. They may improve the range of your jaw. Chewing Bones maybe easier with them.

:laugh1:

It's easy to laugh and knock stuff like that if you've never tried it. Try looking up proprioception, there's a lot of work done in that field (I don't really know much about it though).

Actually, an increase in oxygen alone will improve your flexibility and range of motion. It's not completely out of the realm of possibility that the mouthpiece could be effective.

IIRC, they also said that the the mouthpiece helped with spine alignment.

Who knows?

"Who knows" is not a good enough reason to use something.

The difference is, brainchild, medicines have side effects.

And, I don't seem to remember endorsing the use of the mouthpiece. Take your weakness to another corner. Thanks for playing.

Brainchild? Thanks, I guess :(

My point is that you can't say something "helps spine alignment" and then say "who knows, it might actually do it too". Makes it sound like a cheap marketing gimmick.

My sister-in-law once bought a device you stick in your ear to make you lose weight. I bet this mouth piece works just as well.

Gruden needs to calm down. he is over the top on everybody who is playing well.

He is driving me crazy. I mean I like Drew Brees and he is playing very well and I like Drew, but my word, talk about not winning anything yet......

Matt Ryan - let's not put him in Canton yet. He has played two tough teams the last two weeks and made costly errors.

Everybody was saying after the Cowboys Monday night game that they thought he was aiming for the OC job but I don't think so - I just think he is a bit overly excitable!

Point taken. Apologies offered.

And, I agree, I don't even turn in prescriptions on drugs that I don't know what they are before I check them out and look at alternatives. It's not that I don't trust my doctor. It's just that I don't trust my doctor. :D

I wouldn't say with absolute certainty that the product works. I DO think that the company that developed the mouthpiece would do some extensive research before they approached and NFL team about their product. It's one thing to have Show Low High School call you a fraud. It's a whole other beast to have an NFL franchise do the same.

It may be a placebo type of thing, but the announcers (who were given flexibility tests with and without the mouthpiece) and players themselves have attested that it makes a difference. Being that the company hasn't paid ESPN for any advertising time, I don't see what reason the booth crew would have to lie about their experience.

What I do know, is how one body part affects another. My uncle had a serious toe injury in his early 20's that he never had taken care of properly. It escalated to a heel injury. From there it migrated to his hip, then his lower back, then his neck and shoulders. Now, that process took many years (he's now in his 50s). The fact, is it started with his toe. So, to me, it doesn't sound as "hokey" as it might to someone else to say "Hey, the way you position your jaw makes a difference in spine alignment and oxygen efficiency". But, again, I still haven't endorsed using the product.

Once again, my apologies Temo. The wife, seemingly, isn't thrilled with the side of the bed I woke up on today either.:

I'm calling BS.

Next thing you know there will be some guy coming out with a jock strap that properly aligns your junk and gives you the ability to lift an extra 30-40 lbs.

After reading the link I will call you knee jerk from now on.

Thanks Nt for the link. I love anything that makes Hoof look silly.:D

Just messing with you Hoof.

It was a joke, you know. something (most) people laugh about.
And it was a joke of that kind where you don't have to think alot to understand it.

But i didn't want to hurt your feelings. so sorry if i did.

I think that's what makes Gruden fun for all fans, though. I'm so sick of the doom and gloom guys like Joe Buck. That ******* gets on one idea and trashes an entire team on that premise for 3 1/2 hours straight.

On the flip-side, Gruden has something good to say about EVERY team. That's encouraging to fans. To know that a guy who has won a championship and had success in the play-offs sees redeeming qualities about your ball club is a plus, IMHO.

He may be over the top at times, but I'll take Gruden over Buck any day of the year.

They were def serious.

When you think about it, I can see how it works. It supposedly aligns your jaw and spine and allows for greater range of motion.

That's just who he is. Take a look at the cover and title of his book:

I've got an idea for custom underwear that will align the groin and make players smarter.
