I learned from Jim, that anytime someone asks you if you think such and such a player is a bust prematurely, you respond - "Absolutely, I do."

Yeah Westy is a regular Earl Campbell:rolleyes:

All the games I've seen him play if there's nothing there he just lays down, now if he happens to be running past a defender and the the guy out stretches for him yeah, he's broken a few of those, big deal.

The Eagles also have a far superior O-line over the Aint's...

Still I'd take Bush over Westbrook anyday.

Wow, you are wearing some thick bias goggles, because you are standing alone with that opinion.

He's just a souped up Brian Westbrook and if used properly, can be a points racking machine..
Brian Westbrook can run between the tackles.

Bush also gets rocked at least once every game. I don't know how much of it is his fault, and how much of it people wanna lay his overhyped *** out.

Bias? As if I'm a USC fan or something ******** like that? There's no agenda here mejito, I just see Bush as quicker and their (His & Westbrook's) running style is nearly identical IMO, therefore Bush is "Souped" up.

So I thought N.O. was one of those lucky teams last year.

Their WR's suck alot. SOrry, Colston had a good rookie but the loss of Joe Horn was huge.

Their defense sucks.

Oh, and Reggie BUsh. Bush never was the full time back at SC. And he still is scared to run between the tackles. I don't think he's a bust. BUt I think Houston might look smarter and smarter for taking Williams instead of Bush, who really has no position.

This is not a ******** thread. People are asking and I for one am glad they do ask this.

Go chase an ambulance already...

I think Bush is WAYYYY over-hyped. Yes he has talent. Yes he can score some points.

The thing is he is not the next coming of Gayle Sayers or Dickerson.

Bush is what he is. An over-hyped fast kid with some moves. He is not smart. He still bounces out to outrun folks and that is what's killing him. He did a bit better lastnight but still has that tendancy.

Bush freakin drinks to much of his own Kool-aid. He hates it when he cant bust one every play. You can tell by watching him after a tackle. He just simmers.

This ain't USC baby. Welcome to the show.

I LOL everytime I see it.

Yeeeeaaaahhhhh!!! He's a bust! Come on folks he had a great rookie year, it's only been 3 games this season and the rest of his team has been awful too. Reggie is not a bust, he'd have to do pretty poor all season and next for me to consider him a bust!

Bush did not have a great rookie year. He did some good things certainly, but it was not great. Great is not 565 yards rushing and a 3.65 yards per carry even for a rookie. He was adequate and what makes him adequate was his contribution in the passing game with his 88 receptions and 742 receiving yards. If it was based solely on rushing, then he would have had a poor rookie season. Of course Bush was never going to be judge solely on rushing. It was his total game, including as a return man.

I would say it was somewhat disappointing the lack of big, explosive plays from him last year and 3 games into this season. He had a few, but not nearly as many as hyped. And somewhat disappointing does not equal bust. It will take a few years to earn a bust title. Even then he can still be a solid contributor without living up to being the high 1st round draft choice.

I dont think Bush is a "bust" by any means but he is way overhyped. Its amazing to me that Adrian Peterson isnt getting a 10th of the love Bush got and he is twice the player. Bush is a poor man's Brian Westbrook as far as Im concearned.

Honestly, this has to be one of my top 3 gripes about the NFL...The over hyping media propaganda machine that continually trys to annoint individuals...In particular, this fascination with Reggie Bush.

I'll be the first to admit how impressive he was at USC but the hoopla once he got into the NFL has been mind numbing...He's accomplished nothing...3 yards per carry going into his 2nd season and he's everywhere???!!

Honestly, it makes me sick...I was in an Adidas store the other day and saw a commercial they had playing in the background of Bush and Beckham cross promoting...I kept thinking how overrated Bush was and what he was doing with Beckham?....The irony of course, for those who don't really follow futbol, is that in many circles Beckham is considered overrated...Except, that he actually possesses qualities that are quite unique and necessary in matches...Bush, on the other hand, with his 3 yards per carry has achieved nothing as a professional.

Bush is done...His future is either as a returner or as a receiver/3rd down back...An everydown back?...No way.

This, in a post complaining about hyperbole? Seriously?

He has 1400+ yards from scrimmage and 8 TDs (plus another on a punt return) in 19 games. And that's while being involved in a dual-back system.

Whether he's a 3rd down back, receiver, or whatever, that's impressive from a rookie.

Good post.

And even worse is how much hype Leinart was getting... Until last Sunday.

But hey, maybe getting benched doesn't even matter anymore as long as you're a "star" who won a lot in college.

3 yards per carry, that's what I refer back to, everytime.

McAllister is done for the season, Bush will get the lion's share of the load now...We'll see what he can do but nothing I've seen from him even gives a glimmer that he's an everydown back that is an elite one.

Let's see how it plays out in Season 2...But even based on what he has done so far, can it support the kind of hype he's gotten?...I think there are no less than a dozen RBs that have more impressive stats and abilities that shrink in comparison to the hype he's gotten...It's a media circus about him and it's overblown.

This really is just a testament to how professional leagues work, they try to hype individuals and create stars to harness leagues ala the Michael Jordan way.

Nevermind that it's a team sport, it's a lot more glamorous to focus on a RB, QB or WR.

Agreed.. you can go back to posts I made before the draft and I said the same thing.

He is a very talented player but not a full-time back. He'll have an OK career IMO but will never be a star.

when you talk of overhype - look around here about mcfadden. even if it does work out that he comes here, will he *ever* be what we want him to be? what would be a "success" for mcfadden given the hype he's already got around him that week in and week out we're on a browns watch for his services?

but the hype continues and sooner or later no one can live up to it and there will be rantings about that.

I wouldn't say bust. However, lets look at this logically.

Bush was a great player on a GREAT team in a HORRIBLE conference. Put that all together and people bought into the hype. Look how many commercials this guy has and he's done NOTHING.

Take Bush out of USC and plant him on ANY team in the SEC and he's just another really good SEC player, along with 50 others. But put him on a Great USC team against HORRENDOUS competition and he's all world.

When people look at a single stat, they tend to forge these myopic viewpoints.

Exhibit A.
