Great insight.

Obviously they love him. I think the point being made by some here is that Cowboys are overvaluing him and it's not the first time they've overvalued a guy.

They loved Hayden too for too long:

The issue is pass rush. Period.

No, it's the secondary and the pass rush. Period.

Good synopsis on Church

Barry Church epitomizes the Dallas defense. He doesn't have great physical skills, but he overcomes that by hustling, playing with good technique, and playing smart. You can ask Church to do a lot of things, especially in run support, but he shouldn't be left one-on-one with a deep receiver. He's good in giving help over the top, (there's a reason Megatron was a non-factor this game), and he can come up in support on screens and curls. However he tends to lose players on crossing routes, especially in man coverage, and doesn't have the athletic ability to consistently make plays from across the formation. He's a good steady player, but you have to protect him in pass coverage, especially against quick players are long developing routes.

That's

Lol, seriously.

Not overly smug or opinionated, now are we?

In case one hasn't observed AND incorporated, the selection process in Dallas now selects highly talented players with a lot of physical ability. Jones graded one of the very highest with regards to this trait. Also, he was very solid coming out of College, and with a top shelf mental ability.

He was moved frequently between cornerback and safety, but benefited from the learning experiences in game conditions.

With Orlando Scandrick, the head dog in the secondary, back...Jones should be top shelf and improving...

but remain smug and 'informed' on lack of trophies yet.

Yes I absolutely agree. Scandrick is a baller, Carr is solid and much of his critics look more at his contract and justifying it than what he can do. Mo was better last year and I also believe his failed expectations and inability to study and learn from game film are alot of the reason hes currently hated on. He said last year was the first time he understood how to study film and his play was better, hopefully he can build on that. Byron Jones did a good job handling what was thrown at him last year and clearly has the athleticism to become a premier player. As with any secondary they will need help up front and the lack of a pass rush could well be thier down fall. All and all I think our secondary will be good.

Our CBs haven't been a real problem for a couple of years now. They're not a stand-out group, but they're pretty solid across the board. And having three that can play press-man at a fairly high level (four, maybe now?) gives us options.

The S position has been a problem for years, though. Jones helps (he looks like a long-term starter with good upside to me). Players like Church and Heath have spots on every NFL team, but we do lack another difference maker in that group. It's great that we appear to have hit on Byron, though, because we needed a playmaker back there badly.

Overall, our problem has been with the rush positions and at S under Garrett here. We took some risks to fix the rush and all of them not named Demarcus Lawrence appear to have been whiffs. Let's hope we get lucky with the creative scouting this season and actually put together a consistent rotation. If we can just hurry things up a little bit and play good coverage and tackle well, our offense should put us in position to win a lot of games.
