TO has certainly had better career numbers than Moss -- that cannot be argued.

No question. Apparently, your boy above thinks 30 extra yards in your best season is something to crow about.

But answer this question honestly: Right now, at this point in their careers, which receiver would you rather have on your team? Moss has 5-10 years ahead of him. TO's best years are behind him.

I'd rather have Moss than anyone we have on offense, save Witten. But only because of his years ahead of him. Right now, we have arguably the most unstoppable receiver in the league on our team. And we only need him for a few years. Last year TO was on pace for 1,744 yards, and 14 TDs on the season - his best year ever. It's not a given that he would have continued that pace, or even played all the games, but he would have approached those totals. So, it's not a given that his best years are behind him. He's never played in an offense with this many weapons.

First...don't call me stupid.

I'm not calling you stupid, just what you said

Gonzo is a great player, I've never said anything to the contrary.

true, you haven't, but you're saying Saunders knows how to utilize TEs, so I'm assuming you mean that Cooley is now going to get 80-90 receptions and near 1,000 yards, my bad if that wasn't what you were saying, so let's just drop the links to Gonzalez, there is none

If Saunders manages to increase Cooley's numbers even marginally from last year, he will (once again) be one of the top 4-5 TEs in the league.

Gates
Gonzales
Witten
Shockey
Crumpler

naw, he'll be 6th or 7th best TE in the league

really, then how did he end up w/ only 1 less TD reception than the almighty Moss despite playing in 8 less games? MOss has more time than TO, but right now, and IMO, for the next 3 or 4 years, TO will be the better receiver

Well, don't stop there. Owens played for a small Division I-AA (Tennessee-Chattanooga). Still, the 49ers selected him within the first 89 picks behind:

Keyshawn Johnson, USC
Terry Glenn, Ohio State
Eddie Kennison, Louisiana State
Marvin Harrison, Syracuse
Eric Moulds, Mississippi State
Alex Van Dyke, Nevada
Amani Toomer, Michigan
Bryan Still, Virginia Tech
Muhsin Muhammad, Michigan State
Bobby Engram, Penn State
Derrick Mayes, Notre Dame

His lack of big-time exposure probably had a lot to do with where he was selected and explains why he didn't go higher. On the other hand, Brandon Lloyd was drafted out of the Big Ten (Illinois). Even though he played at a Division I-A school, which was also a member of a highly televised major conference, the same 49ers selected Lloyd late in the 4th round behind:

Charles Rogers, Michigan State
Andre Johnson, Miami (FL)
Bryant Johnson, Penn State
Taylor Jacobs, Florida
Bethel Johnson, Texas A&M
Anquan Boldin, Florida State
Tyrone Calico, Middle Tennessee State
Teyo Johnson, Stanford
Kelley Washington, Tennessee
Nate Burleson, Nevada-Reno
Kevin Curtis, Utah State
Billy McMullen, Virginia
Shaun McDonald, Arizona State

IMO, I don't believe that Lloyd was simply 'overlooked' by the talent scouts and fell in the draft. He ended up where he should have and was probably fortunate that he didn't go in the fifth round. That's the 'no. 2' receiver which the Commanders paid for. Enjoy.

So basically what your saying is that a player who goes later in the draft that played for a major conference belongs where he was drafted? Tom Brady was drafted in the 6th round & played for Michigan.....do you think he was drafted where he should've been? Steve Smith was drafted in the 3rd round after at least 7 WR's that he is better than. Believe it or not sometimes players slip in the draft or they can even go undrafted.
