Anyone else here seriously dislike Shanahan and Purdy

I have nothing but respect for Purdy. I'd love him here instead of Dak.
I'm no Dak fan, but Purdy is not better than Dak. I'd love to see that materialize in this game. What I'm most afraid of is that the 49ers are just a better team. Like they were the last two seasons.

I hate Shanny just because his offense is so QB friendly. People running wide open all over the joint. And to think the Skins had he and McVay!! Thank goodness they left.

As for Brock. The dude reminds me so much of Romo when he came on the scene. Same moxie, and movement in the pocket.

Now who I really dislike on that team is Kittle. Dude is a tool. Ugly as hell and just freaky looking. Get a haircut

Just made this post on another thread:

I want Purdy exposed. We were *this* close to doing it last year...but then...you know what happened.

People are talking about him like he's Joe Montana. He's on a stacked team, has one of the greatest dual threats around in his backfield and he's not played from behind much.

I want him EXPOSED.
Let's give the rest of the NFL a blueprint on how to beat them. Except don't give that to the Eagles.

Don't care much anymore as 28 years+ of mediocrity killed my enthusiasm about football.
And yet you go out of your way to come to a forum you don't even need to be on to display your disdain about the team you say you don't follow and about football so why are you here exactly I mean common fans don't sign up for forms they don't belong to a bunch of groups that carry the name of the team they're so disappointed in so you know what not buying it you can say what you want staying on the fringe of being a fan because somehow you're embarrassed or disappointed we're not buying it you're here going out of your way spending useless amounts of time discussing the Cowboys which they are a football team by the way/...LOL :muttley:   :oldcouple:

“Sports hate” usually translates to this: “I hate them because they have beaten my team too many times when it mattered most.”

Having been a Cowboys fan for so long, the evolution of the “hate” we as fans have had usually follows this timeline:
  • 1960s- Green Bay. Bart Starr and the pack broke our hearts twice- in ‘66 and ‘67 (Ice Bowl) Both games kept us from playing in the first two SBs.
  • 1970s- Steelers- lost SB X and SB XIII to these guys in close hard fought games. Both gut punches. Bradshaw, Franco Harris, Mean Joe Greene…ugh.
  • 1980s- Tie- Niners and Washington- SF broke our hearts in “The catch“ game in Jan ‘82 NFC championship game and the Deadskins in the NFC championship game the next year. We hated Wash starting in the 70s with George Allen. The 80s teams it was John Riggins and Joe Theismann.
  • 1990s- The niners- We played them in 3 straight NFC championship games and won 2. Jerry Rice, Steve Young and “Longneck” Merton Hanks were all easy to dislike. The e-girls were second with Buddy Ryan’s heyday.
  • 2000-2010- The giants….I guess. We only made the playoffs 4 times and they knocked us out in 2007 when we had the #1 seed.
  • 2011-2020- The pack- The Dez “no catch” game in 2014 and then in 2016 when they beat us at AT&T when Aaron Rodgers completed that 3rd and 30 pass to set up the winning FG.
  • 2021- Now- The niners. Knocked us out the last two yea4s in the playoffs.
I want to win Sunday very bad. But win or lose, the only thing that will really feel better would be to win MULTIPLE playoff games this year. Been 28 years since we’ve done that and that’s what I “hate” more than any team.

This is a game. I don’t dislike any team enough to actually hate the coaches or players involved personally. They haven’t done anything to me.

I do hate Deshaun Watson though.

I respect both of them for their talents……I would trade MM and Dak for both of them

I could say the same about Andy Reid and Mahomes…..but we’ve got what we’ve got.

I hear he left a big tip though……so at least there was a happy ending

Grew up as a Cowboys fan in the Bay Area during the DAL-SF rivalry of the '90s.

Yes, I hate the 49ers with every fiber of my being.

I like them both. Purdy was Mr Irrelevant and has played well. He’s a cool customer. Shanahan is a better coach than his father and always has the team ready to go. The playoffs will likely go through SF this year.

I hope we rise to the challenge.

- Washington Commanders rivarly - Joe Theismann, ..."The Fun Bunch " ..John Riggins Diesel foghorn ... Dexter Manley ...
The " Hogs " swagger and arrogance demeanor made Cowboys nation " hate " them.
Landry/ Danny White era could not overcome their " physicality" .
their 340 lbs-ness ala Dave Butz, Joe Jacoby, Russ Grimm, etc.

- Buddy Ryan's Eagles clan ...mainly because of arrogance of Bounty bowler Buddy Ryan and cheap artist
Andre Waters ...and yes always of course those damn, dreaded Philly fans !!
I cannot flat out stand them Eagles fans .. even to this very day !!
* Cheering on an injured, on the ground Michael Irvin on that awful field.! Disgustingly Arrogant and Crappy attitude !

- Montana - Steve Young/Niners era .. yeh I liked over-throning the NFC best and replacing that dynasty with our own
via Jimmie Johnson (yes, Jerry..I said it !!) .. and even though I was so young, the heartbreak of the Catch was
as painful a game loss as I ever experienced as a Cowboys fan. (even Tom Landry tear-cried post game interview)
Our 90's era really shook and hurt and haunted Rice & Niners, as even he flared up for a pre-game fight; Jimmie even commented on Rice's behavior. Deion Sanders 1 year emergence changed tide in Niners favor in revenge game.
but they quickly declined in future playoff title bids as key players injuries occurred. (Young, Rice, etc)

- I cannot never recall the Cowboys having a hated rivarly vs NY Giants,.. Simms, LT, Joe Morris, Bavaro,
Harry Carson, Banks, Pepper Johnson. Not even with Johnny Perkins, Bill Parcells, or Dan Reeves.
And surprisingly because NY fans have the reputation of being wayward jerks on the East side.

I very much dislike the SF 49ers. My hate goes back to the days of Montana and “The Catch”. I hated them in 1994. I hate them now. Shanahan is a classic NFL nepotism guy. He has been anointed as some sort of genius. Fact is he has been responsible for some of the dumbest coaching in the modern era. That Atlanta loss was all on him. I can’t stand the arrogance and the stupid flat brim ball cap. I am sorry if you don’t break in a hat you are a fool. Purdy had a reputation of being a punk in college. He looks like a punk too. Cocky little man thinks he is Steve Young out there. I can’t wait until he gets the pummeling that is certainly coming his way. The people in Northern CA deserve embarrassment. I really want to see Dallas smash these guys. I hate the Niners. Always have. Always will. Thoughts?
Shanahan is the best coach in the league. Wish he was ours.

Nope.

I don't really dislike players unless they're bad people.

Happy for Purdy-- he has a great story.

Can't be mad at them for my team's failures.

Purdy has already surpassed anything Dak has done here in year eight (8).
