Anyone else just confused?

I mean, Dak looked very good today, O was clicking, EZ was beastly.
WTH?
Is Dak developing, or is he just this on and off?
Our D was decent. Not great by any means, but decent. Our O carried the day.
What are we? What do we expect next week?
Seriously, I'm confused. Where y'all at?

This team lives and dies with the offensive line. Period. Dak and Zeke looked better today because the offensive line played better. The coaches also used more trap plays, pulls, screens, and other things to keep the defense off balance.

Dak is a good (but not great) quarterback when he has time in the pocket. This is the first game where he has actually had time to throw the deep ball. Some of that is adjustments that were made in blocking schemes, and some of that is because the Lions simply don't have a very good defensive line.

Dak still didn't play that well IMHO. He took three really bad sacks today, all of which were entirely his fault. On two of them, instead of stepping up in the pocket when he felt pressure, he tried to roll out and ran himself directly into a defensive end. He also had an easy interception dropped. But as I said, when he has time in the pocket he'll make the throws. I really wish he'd scramble a bit more, and earlier.

One of the explanations I have about this team and how it’s perceived by fans is this:
Too many fans look at individual players like Dak, Zeke or Tank Lawrence, and think winning is all about individual performances. How individuals play is the key to winning. But that’s only partially true.

For example, Dak is a good QB but he is not a gunslinger like Pat Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers. The key for Dak to be successful is the team around him. A good running game helps Dak be more effective because he is never going to be a dart throwing, dime dropping gunslinger.

Too many on these boards expect Dak to be something he isn’t. He is a decent passer, who can also run the ball, is smart and doesn’t force too many stupid throws. Again, Dak is a good QB that can help a team that knows how to use him properly.

Winning is about how well you understand yourself as a team and then how well you execute as a team. This team is not built to depend on a 300 yard passing day from its QB to win. It needs to have a good running game that can make the defense defend the run, which in turn opens the passing game. If the running game isn’t there, Dak is exposed. It’s that simple.

TEAMS win football games, not individuals. In order for this team to win a lot of games, the coaches must continue to game plan around this team’s strengths while adding some creativity. The players must execute consistently within their team concept.

But...we must always remember- what you see one week doesn’t guarantee it for the next week.

We suck...and it was the Lions. And the league needs us to be relavant for ratings...Hence the lack of calls against us.
No matter what you believe, Kellen Moore will never be our starting QB, that ship has sailed, caught fire, then sank.

Like I said before I think he has been worried about turning the ball over so he won't take many chances down the field. Well today he did

Man it's like being back on the Romo coaster again

Maybe Dak got new contact lenses? He appeared to see the field better.

Dak asked young QB needs many things to work in his favor, his sweet spot for attempts is the mid to high 20's, run game has to dominant basically 5-6 yards a clip, short down and distance, OL has to be solid and receivers have to catch. Any of those starts to unravel so does he. I think he starts pressing when he gets behind the chains and it effects his reads and mechanics.
Those are pretty much generalizations, especially for a team built around the run. Once a QBs pass attempts start to rise, it's usually based on being behind or ineffective running game. Having a solid OL and recievers to catch the ball, who doesn't want or need that to play better.. Wilson struggled his first few games when his OL was struggling, nonexistent run game and his #1 WR was injured. Brady looked mortal last week, when the Lions locked up Gronk and made him try to beat them with other players. Even the great Brees, his passing numbers were all lower last year than they had been for many years, less attempts, less passing yards, less TDs, lower TD %. The difference is they put a better team around him. He had 3 straight 7-9 years before last year. His play on the field was flashy, but that didn't translate to winning more games either.

The bottom line is it's a whole team effort and not even the most elite QBs will carry a team to a championship, if they could Rodgers would have more than one.

He led us on a game winning drive so that's progress. I hope he keeps developing.

That's the post of the day right there.

See I disagree. In the games where he is successful the most often is where he does not need to do too much. The games he struggles the most at are ones where he needs to shoot it out. He is great guy to have when leading by a score or more or if you need to go for the win down by a score or less. He is outside his comfort.zone and gets frazzled. There are some games that this is not true but most of his best games he is around the 25-27 pass attempt area

Not only did he lead us on the drive, that throw to Zeke was great. It was dropped right in there where nobody but Zeke could catch it.

I'm not sure why they weren't running a bit more on the drive, when they threw on 2nd and 3 I was irritated. They had ample time to pound Zeke and still get the yards they needed. But I can't complain about the results.

I think having a terrific O line with a top 3 RB going against the worst run defense may have had something to do with it. It opens up a lot.

I think it was pretty much expected that we would be able to run the ball. The Lions run defense was not known to be very good.

I don't think any of us really questioned Dak on the Go routes either. He has been able to throw those when he tries.

But, Dak did do better in some aspects, and we had receivers drop catchable balls. He still doesn't like those deeper middle throws. He may never really like doing them.

The two TE passes in the end zone were pretty bad. If he feels pressure he sails balls. You see that a lot when he has pressure.

I don't think this was a performance, that you wouldn't expect from any NFL QB though. It wasn't awesome, but it was adequate for the team we played. Adequate is something we haven't seen for awhile.

We aren't a playoff team, but neither are the Lions. So it was a pretty descent game to watch.

No doubt. He is what he is if the team is down by 17 going into the 4th I have little faith he can play the way he played today. He is more busy driver than he is a Stafford.

I think they knew that though, and want to use the money freed up by his rookie salary to upgrade the bus. But he needs to play at that bus driver level for that plan to work, today he did. He was solid and came through in the game winning drive with good and great plays. The throw away after the fumbled snap was a HUGE play, picking up zero yards was pretty much the best thing we could have hoped for there. It's not going to look like anything on the stat sheet, but that was a game changer.
