Anyone else just confused?

I mean, Dak looked very good today, O was clicking, EZ was beastly.

WTH?

Is Dak developing, or is he just this on and off?

Our D was decent. Not great by any means, but decent. Our O carried the day.

What are we? What do we expect next week?

Seriously, I'm confused. Where y'all at?

Very very very very very very simple and easy analysis. If the Oline plays great, then guys like Dak and Zeke can show off their talent. If they don't, then its a struggle.

The bigger issue is that the coaching is so horrid we have no idea what we are going to get week to week. And then you have to factor in the strength of the opponent and their defense.

I don’t know...this is Dallas for you. Jekyll and Hyde routine. They don’t let you get comfortable in your seat. Who knows what they’ll play like next week,or the week after. I do know 2-2 starts for Garrett teams aren’t the odds in our favor. Gonna have to do a lot of winning to remove that.

Dak asked young QB needs many things to work in his favor, his sweet spot for attempts is the mid to high 20's, run game has to dominant basically 5-6 yards a clip, short down and distance, OL has to be solid and receivers have to catch. Any of those starts to unravel so does he. I think he starts pressing when he gets behind the chains and it effects his reads and mechanics.

Actually he just needs time to throw and for people to NOT drop TD passes. Then he gets the opportunity to do what he did today. Make haters like you look silly.

I think they knew that though, and want to use the money freed up by his rookie salary to upgrade the bus. But he needs to play at that bus driver level for that plan to work, today he did. He was solid and came through in the game winning drive with good and great plays. The throw away after the fumbled snap was a HUGE play, picking up zero yards was pretty much the best thing we could have hoped for there. It's not going to look like anything on the stat sheet, but that was a game changer.

I agree I just think fans should be tempered in their expectations he is not come from behind in the 4th qtr down by 14 type of.guy. he is guy who will secure the ball but will not sow you with pinpoint strikes on demand

I'm not sure the OL was that much different. Looked to me as if Dak was getting rid of the ball better and sooner.
that's what I saw and all the passes in the air weren't under 5 yards so that definitely helped ease the defense off a little.

Winning is about how well you understand yourself as a team and then how well you execute as a team. This team is not built to depend on a 300 yard passing day from its QB to win. It needs to have a good running game that can make the defense defend the run, which in turn opens the passing game. If the running game isn’t there, Dak is exposed. It’s that simple.
Success running the ball does nothing more than provide the passing game with the opportunity for success. It doesn't guarantee it, as we all saw last week.

And as we saw this week, a successful passing game does just as much for the running game.

I think we were pretty good today, but I don’t think the 2018 Dallas Cowboys are legit contenders for a number of reasons:

1)OL currently not what it was—An All Pro LT with back issues, a rookie at LG, an All Pro C absent for who knows how long, not to mention a new line coach.
2)QB issues
3)OC issues
4)Defense missing Irving and Lee (Again!)

Another point? IMHO, the NFL is by design IMPOSSIBLE to predict. A team can look awesome for 2 or 3 or 4 games, then turn around and get blasted by a team that was already spanked by the teams they just beat. It’s all matchups and injuries and subjective penalties.

I suspect that more than half of the owners don’t like Jerry and his Cowboys, but they tolerate them because they bring the rating$, a necessary evil for their survival. We’ll probably handle Houston too, only to get decked by Jacksonville.

See I disagree. In the games where he is successful the most often is where he does not need to do too much. The games he struggles the most at are ones where he needs to shoot it out. He is great guy to have when leading by a score or more or if you need to go for the win down by a score or less. He is outside his comfort.zone and gets frazzled. There are some games that this is not true but most of his best games he is around the 25-27 pass attempt area
He didn't have to do much. Zeke threw that dime to himself for the game clinching TD. He doesn't do much when he extends plays with his legs. He didn't look too frazzled when the ball got knocked out and he gathered it up and saved what could have been a disaster. If we were the type of team that needed to have to sling the ball to win, maybe they should have invested in better WRs and TEs too. You just want a certain type QB, but unfortunately Aaron Rodgers don't grow on trees. Teams have won and have been successful with all different types of QBs. Cam is not very accurate, but they built a plan around his mobility and have been successful even went to a Superbowl, Eli is the ultimate pocket passer, but he wasn't going far without good WRs, running game or defenses. I don't know if Dak is the answer going forward and even if he isn't the same principles still apply, you have to build an entire team, not just a couple good pieces. Romo had the qualities you're talking about, but he didn't get us to the ultimate game either.

Don’t be confused. Just do a little research and analysis.

  • The teams we beat are probably bottom 5-6 teams
  • Our line and offense looked better but let’s tap the brakes just a little bit and consider our opponents. That’s not to say we cant or won’t get better as the season progresses.
  • Zeke ran and received the ball well today and tank got three sacks. Elite players elevate their game when their backs are against the wall. Those two were outstanding.
  • Dak played better but you can still see the diff between Dak vs stafford in their throws. But when everything is clicking he does just enough for us to win.
  • Our receivers are nothing to fear and if Beasley ever got hurt, then it would definately affect us
  • A win is a win, and I’ll take it. Heck it’s better than a loss but our execution looked better against an inferior opponent and we only won by 3 at home.

A successful anything starts with the team, not one individual.

I think the Oline played better . Said from Day one Oline needs to be top 5 for us to be successful . When people do there jobs Dak can play well but he can not overcome Zeke leaving 10 pts min on the field last week or receivers coughing it up to the other team when it in there hands and they should catch it .

Dak needs the players around him to make the plays they are supposed to make this keeps him ahead of the chains and in his comfort zone so he can do his best work . Also seems he works best at almost a hurry up tempo .

Next week if the Oline protects and nobody is coughing up the ball we should be very competitive . If people are not making ball security a priority , getting penalties along with the Oline getting beat We will struggle .

Must stay ahead of the chains!!!

The OL was better. Zeke got his. When that happens Dak will be better. Guy was running for his life the first 3 weeks.

Like the level headed people have been saying all week, the difference is execution. I still want Garrett and Linehan gone but the difference today was execution. We still need an infusion of talent at WR and TE though.

Dak is fine. He's just better when we run our offense a certain way.

And our o-line is just better when we run our offense a certain way. They respond much better to days where they get to spend most of the game attacking forward instead of playing back on their heels and being attacked all day.

We did something anachronistic in the way we built this team. We spent 1st round resources in interior blockers when LT's are arguably the only o-line position you need to spend 1st rounders on anymore. We spent a top 5 pick on a RB at a time when runners grow on trees and are disposable. It's fine. I mean, it's not what I'd choose to do, but we've made the choice and now it is what it is. So we need to play the kind of game our team was built to play. We can't build a run-heavy team like that and then let our playcaller intentionally opt to only give Elliott 15-ish carries like we've been doing.

When we call unnecessary passes, we're effectively doing the defense's job for them. We should do less of that. A lot less.

I think the offense was untested and unprepared when the year started. They will get better and better as the year goes on, but will also get shut down some

No doubt. He is what he is if the team is down by 17 going into the 4th I have little faith he can play the way he played today. He is more busy driver than he is a Stafford.
Are we accustomed to a QB coming back from 17 down in the 4th quarter?

The oline is that important

I think what everyone is trying to say is that we are only as good as the other teams DL...
