Recap: Anyone else just hear Tony on TheTicket?

I think you are making the assumption. Tony has already talked about his rehab time previously and said this would be something he would have to do all year.

Nope, in the article referenced he said 3-4 hours of rehab, maintenance or strengthening exercises. It doesn't mention how much of what is involved in those few hours. In the other article you linked to it seems pretty obvious that these exercises are part of a long term strategy to change the way he trains his body. He also said he has no pain, which blows a pretty big hole in any dire assumptions at this point.

Honestly I don't know whether he will last the whole year or not. Anybody who says so is just projecting. So that being said, I'll take Romo's comments at face value until proven otherwise.

Well the sort of silver lining to this all is that if Romo can't play....this team will be in a great position to draft his replacement next year.

Yeah. Worst case scenario we can still plan for the future.

Cowboys screwed up once again big time. Back injuries are serious, and you are never ever the same after you injure it. We had a chance to get Manziel and we passed, and I am afraid that this is going to haunt us for a long time. I don't think that Romo can last the season.

You guys act like we passed on Andrew Luck.

There are better QBs than JFB in next year's draft, this haunting us forever business is way over the top.

Manziel is a dousche bag. There will be more QBs, I promise.

If he wasn't a Texas product I doubt he'd have half the support he gets.

so maybe everything is not like we have been led to believe with tony from him or the rest of the staff and fo

Dude everyone who was going for Manziel or Teddy Bridgewater knew this. For some reason you look aid drinking fand thought it was nonsense. Heck even Troy Aikman came out in the public to voice his opinion. I had a mild back injury it took half a year to fully heal.

Not too worried about Romo, if he can go....great, if not, then we rely on another ginger. For all I care, let Romo rest most of camp and maybe get him in the last pre-season game where the rest of the teams rest their starters. He can get a little rust off and sharpen his mechanics and get ready for SF. It is not like he needs to learn the offense or anything, he knows it and should be fine with limited camp time.

It is more important to get his back to 100% than play a quarter in a few meaningless games IMO. Get that back stronger, sit back and let Weeden get some reps in and be ready for week 1.

I just listened to it, honestly it didn't sound too bad. Actually kind of optimistic after listening.

This is what I expected, honestly.

Even if he truth is bad, Tonys never going to say it. He tries to play with broken bones and collapsed lungs. He's not going to make a big deal out of an injury in a TC press conference.

Haven't heard it myself, but listening right now to the morning guys discussing it and they have Corby on, who was doing the interview. He says he got a very weird, scary feeling from Tony. Said Tony usually exudes confidence but they didn't feel that yesterday. For instance, they asked if this will affect his quality of life later in life, and Tony said as an example, when he's 44 or 45 he'll never be able to play golf two days in a row again.

Said as soon as he left the set, he and Mike looked at each other like, "Whoa." And Mike said, "Get ready for a big dose of Brandon Weeden this year."

Just from reading this thread I was worried about Tony not even from a football perspective but from a quality of life perspective. I hope he doesn't get hurt and sustain some really serious injury that affects him forever.

Just between you...me...and the fence post over there, I'm not worrying about a handicap status in a retirement mode golf game for Tony Romo.

Exactly! People act like Manziel was a can't miss pick when 21 other teams agreed with us. Michael Vick, that is manziel in my eyes.

Great post man. I worry more about his quality of life after football. Tony is a great guy and it sucks he is going to have a jacked up back. I see him playing very cautiously during the season as well. I noticed it last year for the first time and this year I would assume he will be even more gun shy. Part of me doesn't blame him either. Our season is a waste anyway with the defense we have. This could put us in a great position to get a top QB next year though.

Yet other players that had to quit football because of back issues are have also expressed concerned about Romo, repeatedly.

But they are dismissed as know-nothings.

I truly hope Romo can play the whole season, but that type of back injury doesn't give me any optimism. Sure he can throw just fine right now, but he's pretty limited on how long he can do it right now. The amount of rehab time he has to go through to get ready for a non-contact practice is insane, considering what else he is doing as well on top of that. I know the training staff is being overly cautious with him and Mickey and Broaddus are preaching that nothing is wrong with him but we've also seen how this team is forthright with injuries.

It's already set for him to sit out preseason games so there's also that too.

IMHO, you can't go into this season thinking everything is going to be fine with Romo.

Fact is no one can, if any particular player will last the entire season. Any of them on any team can go down at any minuet. I think the Cowboys approach early in camp is the right one for Romo it allows him to get in the work and get back up to speed that he lacked in recovery. From what has been said his work load will increase as they move forward in camp so that he will be ready for opening weekend.

Did some of you guys even listen to actual interview?
The sky is not falling.
