No, but we plan the meal for after the game every year. And we usually get it pre-ordered and just heat it up and make a few sides. That's because my wife would burn it or oversalt it or otherwise ruin it if left to her own devices, and I won't be bothered with meal-prep during the game.

Not really a fan of roast turkey, anyway, though (I know, sacrilege), so taking the short cut on Turkey Day isn't that big a deal in our house. I tried to talk the kids into prime rib this year (that can be prepped ahead of time and prepared with very little effort from there), but it was a complete no-go. Oh, well.

I'll meet you for prime any year. My favorite protein.

We eat at my best friends house as neither of us really have family in NC. All of us being Italian we start with my not so world famous
homemade sauce, meatballs and lasagna. Then his not so famous deep fried bird. All before the game. Al Bundy for an hour or so then my wife's deserts during the game. Of course many mixed cocktails in between.

Right? Stud it with peppercorn and garlic and sea salt, pop it in the often at 500 for an hour. Let it sit in the sealed oven another two ours coming up to temp and your'e done. A bed of roasties underneath. Little horseradish. Bottle of red wine and/or a 6-pack. Wife makes a salad. Cowboys beat the Panthers, and it's happy-Thanksgiving-to-me. Sigh.

I will say, deep frying turkey is pretty awesome.

Frozen inside still? Or just leave it in too long?

Frozen all over. First timers. My cousin did it as I watched him from the window as I was mixing a few more drinks. Dumb as all get out but hilarious all at the same time. Melted the cooker, lit the yard on fire and almost made it to the house. Two drunks with a water hose and a shovel. It was New Years eve so it was freezing in VA. Oh and two screaming wives, like that was helping.

l haven't eaten at the TG table since I was probably 10 years old. At first I was yelled at for a few years, now it's just accepted and known. I told my gf ofcourse I want you to come over but know you and no one else exists for 3 hours. Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for Tony Romo first and foremost, and then family. I Will now gladly accept your likes, just put them under the table. Im taking shelter after this post. Go Cowboys

Our family meal is always planned around the game. We always eat before. Sometimes during. We can see the TV from the eat-in area in the kitchen. Open concept FTW.

Hilarious. I actually lolled quite a bit at that.

But, yah, that's actually really dangerous. It's easy for the center of the bird to have ice still, with the outside fully thawed. And those things take forever to thaw if they're frozen solid. I had one sitting in water for 36 hours prior to smoking it, and it was still ice-cold inside when I got to it. Took forever to come up to temperature and then was all dried out when it did.

That's why I leave it up to my buddy, he knows what he's doing. I never tried it again.
