So it's April 2, 1989. Wait, let me start at the beginning...
A few weeks earlier the 12 year old version of me had given a speech in which Linda Carter, the co-owner of the Dallas Mavericks, was in the audience. She liked what I said and arranged for me to have front row seats and meet the players after the Mavs played the Miami Heat.
Before the game my mom and I got on a private elevator and next to us was Jimmy Johnson and his girlfriend, Rhonda. This was only a month after he replaced Tom Landry was kinda like meeting the grim reaper. Before it was even his trademark, my mom remarked that she recognized him because of his hair.
