Thinking is not a bad thing.

I don't expect to see Dallas not blitzing at all I just think given how poor we have done with the blitz that the last QB you would want to do that too is Rodgers, the guy will feast on us if we fail to get there and there is nothing I have seen to suggest our Blitz will all of a sudden come to life. Dallas has to be who they are and play the way they have that has gotten them here.

Ok i asept your notion. you are usually on the money. but if the cowboys blitz a lot, pls IM me and tell me how unexpected it was to you.

I think blitzing Rodgers is problematic. I understand he is hobbled and they certainly should test him early however:
  • Rodgers is really really good at beating the blitz and it seems the Packers offensive system always seems to have some hot reciever running fully in stride which more times or not Rodgers finds.
  • The Packers OL might be the best the Cowboys have faced all year
Those things combined <probably> mean that the best strategy is to drop 7 every time the Packers pass, double Nelson, pray that Scandrick can handle Cobb, and leave the other 4 Cowboy defensive backs to deal with the Packer's somewhat uninspiring collection of WR3, WR4, WR5, and the TEs.

Rodgers is a bit gimpy. I expect a large dose of Lacy. Could be Brent's break out game clogging up the middle.

be careful what you wish for. (fork give the preposition to end the sentence). If he is gimpy that mean he will stay in the pocket. when he stay in the pocket is is a lot more acurate than when he run around. and that is not good for us.

Hey if they blitz and are getting there then great but you start getting burned then it becomes stupid to continue to allow yourself to be beaten by quick strikes. Dallas has played pretty darn good defense, we will give up yards but they manage to keep us in the game and come up with turnovers. Dance with what got you there. I think we would all love to hit the field and play like the 85 Bears but that is not who Dallas is

Dallas's saving grace this season has been their red zone defense. I believe it it s ranked 3rd.

They generally allow defenses to move the ball between the 20s (hence being ranked 26th in yardage allowed) but tighten up when it counts.

I would not make a habit of it, we do not look good when we blitz. Guys seem to hesitate or slow up leaving us on as island with no help. Hate to say it but I cringe when I see us blitzing.

I don't see us blitzing much at all.
NFLN said, I think the stat was, of 46 drop backs for Stafford we blitzed him 2 times.
Rushed 4 and kept 7 back.
And most likely will stick with that same plan in GB.

I too cringe when we blitz, never seems it works all that much with a mobile QB. Even with Rodgers calf, I wouldn't blitz him much.

I know you can't 100% buy everything you hear, but I just listened to A Rod on SIRIUS XM NFL radio and he said something to the effect that even if he couldn't practice this week he'd be good to go by Sunday. That, to me, says he won't be anywhere close to 100%. If that's the case, that removes the worry of him taking off on a run. His ability to run, IMO, is an underrated part of his game. If he can't run, that potentially helps us a lot.

Carter can blitz and OScan can off the corner. But you're right. We don't do it that well. One reason is we aren't committed to it. You can't send 4 + 1 and dependably create pressure. Loop the A gap, add some games and bring the corner as well. That's a sack or a long gainer/TD. Which is likely why Marinelli doesn't do it much. There aren't many DCs who do that much.

meine affinity for this D grow daily. all summer I dreaded this year's D and now look what they half done. They half bent many times but not broken. I salute them and coach Marinade. We add 2 more pieces on the D and maybe tweak the secondary and watch out next year. I am talking Super Bowls. and I means it.

None of those guys produced many sacks, Now if you throw in Haley and Tolbert along with Jeffcoat then you have something.

That's just so Marinelli. It's working though, so that's what's important.

Rodgers just said on his radio show that he's not concerned if the calf pops again. He said if it does it does and at that point it's out of his control.

The Cowboys have to take advantage of this injury. If we lose to a gimpy Rodgers you know Seattle will be licking their chops to get after him.

I think Rodgers will throw nothing but screens and quick three step drops all day. I dont think they'll take the chance of having him throw deep.

I have seen it numerous time on this site. Like you, the first time I saw it I thought, WTH? I guess I shouldn't be so lazy. I'll just spell it out going forward. :)

I'd like that somewhat but you can count on some intermediate and deep routes esp to Nelson.
