Wade Phillips should let Garrett know about that 4th down and 2 bomb. That's ridiculous in that type of game. One first down probably gets you 3 points with Folk kicking. Phillips has to reign in Garrett at times. It's his defense that paid the price on Sunday. They had that game won, easily.
The fourth down and inches play should have gone to Choice, not Crickett. Put the ball in the running back's hands. He's the guy with the instincts and vision. When your fullback runs into a stalemate while Davis is mauling and pushing his side back, you will get you second guessed.
Garrett has been hot and cold. Some of the offensive struggles can be rested squarely at his feet. (Arizona, 1st Washington game, Pittsburgh)
I still think Garret is a very talented coach, and he has put together some great gameplans and in game adjustments, but there is no way I want him being head coach right now or next year.
Romo and Garrett need to learn how to manage football games better on a consistent basis. It is Jason Garrett's job to set parameters for Romo and manage him. You don't go out and give games away by playing sloppy football.
Garrett needs to spend some time with Bill Parcells. I don't want him being Parcells. I want him to stay aggressive, but he needs to find a happy center and know when to go for the big plays in the passing game and when to play it save. This isn't the Big 12 South, it is the NFL. That was the number one defense, stat wise, in the NFL. Being more conservative with his play calling on Sunday could have won that game. The first two interceptions were risky passes while deep in your own end of the field. There is no reason to call those plays and throw those balls. Romo and Garrett need to learn that. Garrett should be the guy responsible for teaching Romo those kinds of things.
This is basic football, and Garrett is up and down on this one. I loved his gameplans in Washington and Green Bay.
Getting Barber back will help him out.
