No, but maybe it is just me, but I have not heard of the triple team very often.

The triple team thing is also very overplayed. I think the Hawaii footage has people really convinced it happened all the time.

I think the thing that gets lost about Bosa sometimes is that teams last year actively game planned to keep Bosa from a huge impact.

He's been at the top of the draft for DLs for so long, without having electrifying sack numbers. That translates to 'pedestrian' for some people. It's hard not to fall into the trap of thinking your top-5 pick has to be an all star player. This draft doesn't look to have a lot of candidates for that type of production. There's Ramsey and Jack and Tunsil who all look to have a shot, but that's about it.

But at #4, I just want to not miss on the best defender on our board. Or the 2nd best if SD takes the best one we had rated. Whatever level that ends up being, just don't whiff. Add the pieces, coach them up, and hope the combination is powerful enough that the whole team builds on itself. I don't care what round my all pros come from as long as they have company on the roster.

And Illinois. And Oregon. I don't think it's overplayed, given that the guy is seen as an underwhelming candidate for our pick. But there's no doubt that, like all good DLs, he got a lot of attention in college last year. That's obviously better than the alternative.

They'd better. It's about time we added talent on that side of the ball. And the recent DLs we've taken here need to keep progressing. I can't believe we've done nothing to handicap the QB situation, but it is what it is. The biggest upgrades, now, are available on defense. And we've got lots of options. Gotta take advantage of them.

It is hard to believe we have not even taken a flier on a QB since 2009.

It's crazy, really. Even to develop a backup. We've spent he fewest resources of any team in the league on the position group during that time (I mean picks here, not dollars). That's fine, if we were going the route of paying for a talented experienced backup like we did with Orton. But with a bunch of wannabes on the roster the last few years, it's pretty bad that we haven't brought guys in.
What's more, the guys I can remember that we've reportedly liked (Dalton, Savage, who else?), well, they're pretty pedestrian. We've done a decent job of identifying talent in recent years (even guys we were reportedly high on doing well where they landed outside of Dallas), but we haven't really been connected with any QB prospects who've turned out. I'd like to see us take some swings here, knowing it's going to require a few big misses before we eventually hit on somebody again.

I don't like the suspension and other stuff with Gregory, but surely we need to see him play a most of a season before we write him off?

I hope that another team breaks our hearts in regards to Prescott.

He would be a complete waste of a premium round selection.

Bosa helps more than those types do was the point I was trying to make. There is a reason why DE in the 3-4 typically weigh over 300. We all watched Gregory struggle last season at 250.

I see his max potential to be a 6-10 sack guy but good in the run game (not his rookie year but over time; 4-5 is what is more likely if we're lucky this season) from LE and moving Lawrence to RE to accommodate the pick. Just not what I see as a great investment when Lawrence has shown to be just as productive @ LE and doesn't have recreational drug issues. I would prefer Lawson/Lynch in a slight trade back (I know you need a partner, etc.) or Joseph in a big trade back into the late 1st. Could get Dodd in the 2nd if we pick Lynch over Lawson.

If we can't do the above, I would take Tunsil/Ramsey if we can't find the trading partner.

I've personally given up on Gregory, but Bosa is going to play on the strongside or at the 3 tech, or in a heavy rotation. He won't be directly taking snaps from Gregory. Though he would probably push Lawrence over to take those snaps. Whatever, if Gregory wants them, he needs to stay on the field to get them.

Boss isn't elite, I don't think anyone thinks he is. He is at a minimum very solid at max very good. Rumors of off field issues scare me. I won't be opposed to drafting him, but it's not my first option

I guess if extreme sacks = elite then that may be true.
As an overall player though, some may disagree.

Scout just released their final ratings and Bosa and Tunsil where the two highest rated players in the entire draft and were rated in "elite" range....96 (of 100)

McShay too released his final rating and had the best player in the draft listed as Bosa.
That doesn't mean he is elite, but if not, it would suggest he rates no one as elite.

Spending 2 resources (picks) on that in 23 years will put you in that situation (Eagles) real fast with Romo coming to the end in a couple of years.

I hate Hackenberg and I would take a chance on him long before I would Prescott. I don't think Driskel is great, but he also gets a better grade from me than Prescott.

I've certainly given up. If he ever sees the field again I'll treat it like an unexpected FA acquisition during the year. He's just done this time and again and shouldn't be counted on.

I don't disagree, I am just trying to read where the boys spent time and they spent a lot of time on Dak.

Although I do think Dak has some tools, there are others I would prefer.

But do something, take a swing at the plate.
