The problem is too many second contract types mail it in after getting paid for real.....and Dallas provides the perfect environment for getting away with that.

So yeah, the bust rate would probably be huge.

Then again, if we average one top FA per decade, we are still due for one.

Definitely, in Dallas the pay is high and the accountability is low. I don't care who they bring in. until they fix this dysfunctional cycle then the players we bring in or resign or draft is almost irrelevant. In any job if your boss is cool with low or average production and will still pay you well then there's no motivation to go all out.

The Cowboys rarely spend big in free agency. They usually get lower to mid range free agents.
Every few years they'll get a guy who's like a 2nd teir free agent but that's about it.
