Seriously. You’re right. They didn’t have their sources telling them the deal was done with dak ? Feel like cowboys media personnel never breaks news. Schefter rappaport or glazer seem to be usually first
Right. These guys have been reporting all two years on this deal and it happens and they have no idea its coming....most even predicted he was getting the tag lol.

Well yeah. There IS a cap on salary, and if anyone is being real about it......this team has already given out all the big contracts it can for now.

Unfortunately many are underperforming them, and until they can get out from under those.....or heaven forbid those players step up.....they won't be able to add anyone of significance.

So they restructure Cooper and Lawrence. Which both players are In our future plans. So it’s not an issue. You free up say $25 million cool. Release Chris Jones for another 2 million saved.

So on the low, let’s say we free up $20 million. These are based off of PFF predictions and market value

FS Malik Hooker, one year $2 million
CB Bashaud Breeland, two year $10 million (5 per)
DT Jurrell Casey, one year, $5 million
LB Denzel Perryman, two years, $13 million (6.5 per)

That’s $18.5 million for four starters and upgrades four defensive positions of need BEFORE the draft.

Just because they’re not at the very top doesn’t mean they can’t find players that can help the team. Some here are insufferable

I try to tell people this....having less money should make them smarter on who they bring in. Let's not forget the Buccaneers got Shaq Barrett for 1 year 4.5 million.

Don’t tell @rocyaice that, according to him the salary cap is fictional and doesn’t prohibit any team from signing anyone they want. It’s just a made up number that has no implications.

"Team don't lose players that they want to keep." - Orlando Scandrick, and 10 minutes ago.

"If the guy is a free agent there's a reason his team let him go." - Scandrick again, 5 minutes ago.

"We like our guys." - Stephen Jones, ad nauseam.

....and therein lies the problem.

Quarter century of futility ought to make any logical person consider change.
That is faulty logic because it hasn't been 25 years of constant futility. We've had some very good teams in that period of time. There can only be one winner at the end of each season. That doesn't mean the other 31 teams were all bad teams. We have good and bad years doing the exact same thing so what's there to change?

You know what's funny is that doing the above could end up just like last years free agency class...but I'd still be fore it. You just never know what you will get in these free agents but I like the approach anyway.

Well I can understand both sides of that, but it involves dead cap money eventually, and I'm pretty sure we signed up for all we can shoulder in that regard last night.

Honestly, this is the what we expected. But key word is top free agents.

We can still land starters at DT, LB, FS or CB for reasonable deals.
When have we been able to do this? I'm drawing a blank tbh. Sign a FA that starts and contributes. That's kinda sad tbh.
