Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne are two cornerbacks set to hit the market. Same with safeties Barry Church and J.J. Wilcox, wide receivers Terrance Williams and Brice Butler and running backs Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar. To me, Carr, Church and McFadden should be the priorities. Where’s Ronald Leary? I just don’t see a way the Cowboys keep him. I see him getting a deal that will average around $8 million a year from some team on the open market. Considering the money that will be committed to Zack Martin, I can’t see the Cowboys having four offensive linemen averaging at least $8 million a year. Carr’s availability makes him a better option than Claiborne, who is younger but hurt too often. Church is a valuable part of the defense for his playmaking and leadership. McFadden provides some every-down cover if something were to happen to Ezekiel Elliott. I’d put Williams in the Leary category of him getting a deal from somebody else that the Cowboys can’t match. Butler could be back on a short-term deal. But I wouldn’t put either in the top three.

Too me Carr is not a must. We need new blood back in the secondary. Trumaine Johnson would be a nice option. Saying that if we brought back Carr at a reasonable price that would be OK. I believe Church is a priority he had a great season. I'd bring back Mo at the same deal he had last year too.

When I think of Barry Church the word playmaker doesn't come to mind.

I know it is a tall order to replace them all but I don't see anyone I would have to keep.

Nothing really unexpected. Carr+Church were givens and I think Carr will sign a more than reasonable deal.

I don't think anyone's giving Mo money. I'd give him a low base, with FA type money in incentives.

Be interesting to see how WR plays out. I'm not giving TWill a bunch of money either. In FA i'm looking at two things, DL/WR and possibly a cheap CB we think might be able to play. We saw when Dez was out that we don't need a ton of skill at WR with Dak and this running game. I'd be looking for a vet that can run good routes and just catch the ball.

I expect Butler to be resigned if TWill walks, just for depth. He and Dak have a pretty good rapport for what he is. It'd be nice to secure the #2 position even with just a mid level player in FA so we can stick to relative BPA in the draft. Last thing I want to do is draft a mediocre receiver over a good defensive guy.

Find a second round gem and let these two guys walk

Draft one , sign a mid level corner as well as a lower tier corner. New blood is needed.

Secondary is our biggest weakness. We were like 29th in passing yards allowed, that isn't all from lack of pass rush. The bum in San Francisco lit us up for about a quarter and a half.

I would let Leary, TWill, Church, Carr, Butler, Escobar, TMcClain, JCrawford, Dunbar go for the comp picks

I would re-sign Mo, Wilcox, Butler, Sanchez and even DMC for the vet min

Could maybe get a 4,4,6,7.......means we wouldn't be players in FA but we never are

They signed Alfred Morris to be that every down cover. Still wonder what landed him in the dog house.

I think the Cowboys may have come to the same conclusion that many on this board have come to. He can't play anymore.

I don't think a team is allowed to receive more than 3 compensatory picks.

I resign Carr - Willcox

maybe Mc Fadden but a rookie can take Dunbars place

I thought that Willcox was playing better than Church

the rest a JAGS

Good question. IDK but I suspect he slowed down over the season.
It was always coming. He was very slow at the combine and took a beating over his 1st 4 years. At some point RBs get slower. When your baseline starts where his did, a lost step is more noticeable.
