Archer says Romo has 2 fractures ***Merged***

I am more concerned that he has degenerative issues with his spine that allow fractures and other injuries to occur more easily. I know that he can play with it but whats this players realistic short term projection with all these bad issues.

I think the cumulative effect will be felt years down the road into his retirement years. Gonna be hell to get moving in the morning out of bed.

The same way any bone heals? It's not weight bearing.

It might not be weight bearing, but it does affect his movement. From what I am hearing is that if the fractures are not near vital organs, then it's up to the Doctors to allow Romo to play. But, it has to hurt like hell!

How does something like that heal? Little fracture of spine bone.

It forms a fibrous union and/or new bone or there is just a non-union. It's not a huge deal now or later but pain and immobility/dysfunction will create any limitations.

yeah I doubt it feels great. lol

Uh, maybe you should read up on what it is again.....

I obviously haven't read up but they're stating he has a couple of fractures in his back. Sounds like a broken back to me but I'm no doctor.

You know on the vertebrae, that little wing that sticks out the side of them? It's just that piece.

It's not about just taking a hit. It's about getting hit directly in the spine right where that part of the bone is.

So the bone is near the spine? That's comforting to know.

It is not a broken back, per say...it is a little fracture of those little wing looking things surrounding the spine.

A broken back is a broken back, not a fracture. Sorry for the good news.

Romo needs to sit out at least until after the bye week. It makes no sense to send him out there right now. Just let him rest up and get ready for the Giants after the bye.

I hate saying this, but I agree with you, but knowing Romo....?

When I played, I was one tough SOB. But even I, would not do it. It's just not worth it to me, now I'm not getting paid 100's of millions, but still, too much trauma to my back. I would take some time off, re-evaluate, and determine what I would do with my life. The hits won't stop coming, and teams know that this is the way to slow our offense down so they will blitz. It's sad actually.
