Yes, I have. In fact, you might say that I do that sort of thing for a living, so to speak. Support in the IT industry has seriously degenerated over the past few years because this is the easiest way to cut costs. It operates more like insurance does these days. However, you still have access to documentation that can help you solve the problems and you also have access to new Revs and patches as they are released under your service agreements. OEM, you don't.

If you buy Microsoft OEM you get all the patches online yea I done it for years. Most software OEM Adobe you get all the patches. What you may lose out on is Free upgrades but lets face it 90% of the home user community only upgrades when they have too and with great angst. That is why I am glad I do not support that side of the PC market it is hard enough in the corporate world with supposedly educated people I can imagine the other side with a lot of people who can barely add 2 +2

UM that is a loaded questions

Does RAM help yes to a point does CPU help yes to a point

Then there are other questions that have to be answered what OS are you running ? Is the code (yes including asp pages) written to take advantage of the RAM and CPU and what is your network traffic there on things you can do to make that faster like turning off Checksum offload and put that back on the hardware and not the OS to manage.

That is why it is a loaded question
