Are receivers getting open?

I see a bunch of one on one opportunities where Romo could of taken a shot down the field. When you have Dez isolated with no safety over the top you have to take that shot. If for no other reason it forces team to play differently.

What you dont see is much motion or stacking of WRs to create open lanes for other WRs. Every team in the league does this ALOT but us. Another thing I dont see are corner routes.

Until the last pass of the 1st half. I might finish later, there are definitely better things I could be doing:

hairic i know you're kinda low key, but this amazing work deserves its own thread. this offense is pitiful.

The problem is everyone is always covered.

We aren't going to get anyone breaking free with these basic play designs. It's like we're a high school offense.

Maybe ray Lewis was right. Maybe they did know exactly what was coming

Very rarely in the NFL are you wide open.

Dez 1 on 1 is automatic. I agree. If a defense can get away with only one guy on Dez, then our O will suffer. He demands a double from a Def. Make a defense pay and they will switch.

Now for the motion? Who's your motion guy? Dez? He can't do everything. That's exhausting to be the motion guy and the deep threat.

Beasley Boys. Beasley. I'm telling you. You move that little water bug all over the place and run him underneath dez and Pablo Escobar and Witten. You hide him.

It will free up Harris also. AND the biggest thing is.

CATCH THE FOOTBALL! CATCH THE FOOTBALL! CATCH THE FOOTBALL!

Too many drops.

Maybe this will shed some light on the Romo haters or at least cut him some slack. From those gifs, it looks to be maybe 4 different plays with a little bit of variance, nothing high school teams don't run. There isn't much to work with for any QB, WR's, etc.

If that is the case then why isn't Romo speaking up? Doesn't he get more time in the film room and more say so these days? Truth is, he is just as clueless as the coaches are.

our plays our so uncreative the guys have people on them as soon as they catch the ball. The know what to cover and how to cover it. Guys get no YAC unless them make a great play. Watch the chargers vs our defense. It was YAC city and alot of we designed plays. We run too many routes were our wr's have to stop instead of keep moving especially witten. Witten main route is the hook or out. We barely run slants or crossing routes. Heck did anyone see a corner route? Our passing offense is to easy to defend vs the worst secondary in the league.

And on defense what the heck happen to blitzing, zone blitzing and pressing the wr's like we seen vs the rams. Seem like we called 2 or 3 plays on defense. cover 2 or cover 3. Mixed with alittle man.

there is a total lack of creativity on this football team right now.

How do you know he's not? I believe one of our better series was when Romo was in no huddle at the end of the 4th qtr. He was able to get us down to the 6 yard line, and then SD called timeout. This gave Garrett & Co. the opportunity to call the play, and look what happened. Total speculation, but if SD doesnt call TO, Romo never calls a play short of the endzone. JMO

He is working under the structure of complete dunces and an outdated offense predicated on having the best talent in the league. What can he do but run these dunce plays?

The sinking feeling hit me Sunday immediately when romo escaped a sure sack and Harris dropped a 3rd and long pass past the sticks that hit him right in the hands.

Had Dez 1 on 1 Deep.

Sigh..

(and thanks for posting, would love to see more of these if you have time)

You'd be surprised/angry at how often Dez beats coverage and the ball isn't thrown his way. The KC game comes to mind.

This deserves its own thread... "What's wrong with the passing game".

Yup. Everyone wants to talk about scheme and romo blah blah. But our receivers stunk in the SD game. Numerous key game changing dropped passes from all of them including Dez and Witten. They make those plays and it's a way different ballgame.

Romo, Murray and the Oline have played well this year. The pass catchers have been the inconsistent weak link, both in drops and poor YAC. Sometimes players gotta make plays to win - regardless of coaching we could have won both games we lost if they did

The offense isn't designed for YAC, it's almost designed to limit it in fact. Sure the drops hurt and can't be ignored, but the scheme is not putting them in position to take advantage of, and maximize on, their abilities. The players can never reach their potential with this system, and that is a colossal failure of coaching.

This all stems from the philosphy that they all know what we are going to run, now let's see them stop us.

Wait I though Romo had more authority in the offensive play calling this season?? If things aren't developing due to a conservative play selection doesn't he have the ability to change to something more aggressive?

Im confused. I really think this offense is a product of Romo's confidence after the meltdown picks last season, especially against Washington on that last drive. Everybody and their mom called for Romo to make better decisions and I think that's exactly what he is trying to do. Less aggressive, higher percentage, less risky choices by ROMO not CALLAHAN.

Speak up and come up with new plays he thinks will work. What would Peyton do? Just not say anything?
