Not true at all. San Diego had guys wide open all day.

I don't see any crossing routes. Everything is straight forward or an out. No wonder people can't get open.
One thing is for sure - Sparano's offense was much more efficient and predictable then Garretts. He had a feel to what was called, despite being simple. You also have to look back and see that he used Witten wisely back then. Mostly all of his pass plays was play action, which froze the linebackers, then a quick throw to Witten. In our case, with Garrett, there is no motion and no play action to freeze up the linebackers. Thus its so much easier to defend Witten.
Sparano was also great for creating mismatches and took advantage of them. He will throw the ball deep a few times to Owens to soften the defense up. Then would work the middle with Witten with a play action. We have none of that with Garrett at all.
