I would have liked Williams playing the "Brice Butler" role, rather than, well, Bruce Butler. What is with this board overrating the talent on this team?Good riddance. Didn't need another WR.
No, a log jam of WR's is our deal and not needing to waste cap on a non-essential position when we can (perhaps) be players next offseason for D in FA, Alex.
What is with this board and Maclin/Revis/Kellen
Regardless of the board, I'm not overrating anyone, Alex. Just didn't want Maclin. TWill is not as good as Maclin, of course, but TWill is a solid number two, Bease is an above average-great slot WR, we just used a fourth on another slot WR, and Butler is fine as the fifth option.I would have liked Williams playing the "Brice Butler" role, rather than, well, Bruce Butler. For me, using the money to rollover to next year's FA to (potentially) target some D is far more important than landing Maclin for two seasons.

Just read this article. I'd rather spend the money of the Dline, but wouldn't be opposed to having a decent receiver. He's better then Twill. Then again that's a lot of receivers to carry on the team, but I'll let the GM worry bout that
Never mind me... just taking a victory lap on this one.Just looked. BUF has money, but do they have a QB... and assuming a ring is important, are the Bills a legit contender?
Don't see it, though McCoy is reported to be recruiting him.
BAL has a QB who's been to a Super Bowl, and perhaps is considered by some to be a legit contender, but they'd seemingly be too close and would have to carve out some cap room somehow.
That could happen.
Given some time to read and think more about it, I'll go out on a limb and say he'll sign a 2 year deal with someone in the $5m/per range. And, yeah, probably not us, but you won't persuade me that we're not pursuing it.
Again, he's an upgrade over Butler by anyone's measure, and you just don't have many players like him come on the market this close to training camp--I'd agree that we're not desperate, but too, there's little likelihood a talent of his scale on the defensive side of the ball is going to come to the market at this point, either.
After all is said and done..
you have to see what Washington, Tampa and NY Jints have done loading up on WRs.
Sitting pat with our WRs is not going to win any championships.
Dez, Beaz , Butler and Williams is not going to put enough pressure on defenses.
They have no speed..separation other than Beasley is all we have and he's no deep threat.
Maclin is a top rated WR. We will take lots of pressure off Dez and make the others better.
I say yes..
we have the cap.
We wll have more next year.
Use some of it on this core of players.
Planning to win in 2 or 3 years is not an option.
Win now.
Well..I respect your opinion but, you have to just realize that we have moved to a run first, play action team that leans on the QB and OL to move the ball. We don't need MORE high priced WR's to make our offense go just like New England doesn't. Times are a changing and our WR's will find holes if Zeke is making them concentrate on stopping him. I think the FO is moving on from the Romo era and looking to add young talent for future runs. As long as we are paying Dez top dollar, we are not adding more dollars to the WR payroll.
