Are the Cowboys missing Zeke and Schultz in the red zone?

as much as I detest our offense yesterday, there is a reason Zach is a hall of famer, and you just don't replace him...great teams can survice this though, and Dak doesn't have his safety blanket yet but top tier QB's can find one

Sign Leonard Fournette ASAP! He's a true ground and pound and massive red zone back ala Zeke...even bigger...he would be a great complement to TP...

I know some will scoff at this, but they combined to score 35 TDs the past two seasons (22 of them by Zeke). Almost all of them were in the red zone.

So far, their replacements haven't had a ton of success replicating those red zone scores. Should Luepke get some carries there? Will a TE step up?

The Cowboys 40% red zone TD rate is ahead of only 3 teams, and the same as the NY Jets.
Zeke had trouble scoring from outside the 3 yardline last year and all 5 possessions inside the redzone were outside the 5 yesterday. We would never have gotten into the redzone that often with Zeke as the lead back. Dowdle and Pollard were making plays all day.

Shultz on the other hand was great in the redzone. A better pass catcher than Ferguson. Dont miss his blocking.

In week 1 we were playing conservative, taking no chances and kicking FG's. In week two we played the tough Jets D and were taking no chances.

This week we were missing 3 pro bowler Olineman which was big in the redzone.

They miss Zeke. But mm scared to allow qb to throw in end zone because he’s afraid of ints. Dak under throws receivers, or behind them. You have to be accurate in red zone. Small window.
Nobody misses zeke. Only guys like apparently.

We need bigger sample size. We played a game in a torrential rain, a game vs a very good defense(#2 scoring defense last year) and a game with 3 starting OL missing.

Let's see where we are after the bye.

Dak needs to be a running threat in the RZ. I’m not saying he needs to be Lamar Jackson, but he needs to take opportunities that are there. Idk if it’s his hesitation or the coaching staff but honestly it’s perplexing

Agree, 3rd and 4 at the 15, most D know Dak is not going to run, so you can take out that element of the game and now make he throw a dart for the first down or end zone.

Yes, neither are on the team anymore.
I am aware, and understand why they were let go.

My point is, who is going to score the red zone TDs they used to score? So far, no one has had much success doing it.

Cowboys red zone TD percentages:

2021 - 6th
2022 - 1st
2023 - 29th

It's only 3 games but it's a huge drop off.

Where is Balzac von Fassel? Can't he dial up a fake FG or two?

Zeke? Probably not.

I think we are missing Schultz. He was underrated here - not that I wanted to re-sign him.

he can't. He has to think run before the play starts. He can not improvise.

If the scheme is essentially the same then the answer must be yes. But I have to think McCarthy is calling plays differently and different concepts are being used.

Maybe better off using the WCO between the 20’s and then do what made us the best red zone offense the previous 2 years.
Big Mike is terrible as the play caller.

We are ranked 27th in the red zone.

Clearly yes

Definitely Schultz who continues to be underrated in here based upon posts in this thread.

He simply gets more open than Ferguson off the route break.

it's pretty clear that people don't understand the innerworkings of a TEAM and we changed the offense, the offensive coordinator, play caller, OL coach, RB coach all of it plus the plays themselves.

add in we haven't even had our entire starting offensive line in place , then we're missing 3 starting offensive lineman in the same game....

i watched Jalen hurts play just missing his RT tackle alone he's not the same player, take away a TE or wr... they have one of the best offensive lines in football... and yet he has more turnovers this season than Prescott.. let me see him play missing 3 starting OL let alone changing the entire offense on him overnight....Now add in the defense choking the game away with inordinate number of penalties. sure Judge the QB from a hater viewpoint.

here we are judging Prescott in this new offense with clear issues with players missing and it being new, especially with the red zone comments...

i've seen many top ten cornerbacks absolutely not play well in that situation.... he's clearly still top ten but the team has changed a lot... they're going to need some time to adjust, although the overreactions are priceless and certainly expected but still a giant cluster of nonsense.

The game to game overaction high and low is so why other teams and fans hate our fanbase. now i see it..

Terrible just terrible... .

Schultz currently has 7 catches for 47 yards with Houston. He’s not doing anything for the rook QB.

add in zeke 3 games
1222800

sure they're both on A roll they sure could add to this team I mean geez I mean we just need to go back out and trade 17 players to get these two dudes back...
