It’s the right move but damn it sucks. Been a fan of his 2016….but I understand it.
Ill never understand how you guys have an affection for a guy that is dragging down the team both on the field and in the wallet. Zeke hoodwinked this franchise and didnt come close to earning that 2nd contract. He was coddled and pampered here and given more carries than any other GM or coach would have given him the last 4 years.

Dallas making all the right moves you’d want your franchise to make after back to back loses v SF in the playoffs.
The staff got wiped out and a handful of players.
New QB coming in this draft too .

After the restructuring of #4 contract, he can be released after this upcoming season as a post-Jun cut

Was a great player at his best. Took a beating. Hope he doesn’t hang around the league for much longer.

NFLN is saying June 1st cut possibly. So they don't get the cap money until then, so how does this help them cap wise now?
I know it is a move for the future to dump the pay. But how does it help now.

Personally I think it sucks. Yes, Zeke is wildly over-paid but he has been a great teammate and does a lot of dirty work and was a helluva lot of fun to watch when he still had his explosiveness.

My favorite Zeke game ever was his rookie year against the Steelers. That was big time win for a young team and he was HUGE in that game.

It's not his fault the Jones wildly over-paid on his second contract.

He never whined, cried or complained about his diminished role last year and I hate to see him go.

He was a great Cowboy and it bums me out even though it's the right thing to do.
He was NOT a great Cowboy. Everything about him was overrated and a poor use of money and draft picks.

He had a few good years because he ran behind the best line the NFL at the time. Nothing a guy like Murray couldnt do or another very good back at the time.

How about some appreciation for what he did when he was here? You suggesting he hoodwinked us is an insult to Zeke the football player. The sad reality of being a RB in the NFL is that your tread life is short, and clearly this is the case with Zeke. He got his money, and his body has broken down, it wasn't some sort of scheme he pulled over our eyes

Only reason this sucks for some of you is because he could have been great. Instead he held out for way too much money and was never the same guy on the field. Those that can see and be honest know he’s been here 2 years longer than he deserves given how far he regressed.

It's not about helping now. They can still do things like cut Lewis and restructure Smith and save more cap.

But they can also roll that $11 million in June 1 cap savings into 2024 giving them more cap space that year which they are going to need with Lamb and others due for extensions.

If a team gets zero cap relief right away, why would they not hang on to the player until June 1 actually comes? Never know what could happen.

So the player could actually sign elsewhere and count towards two teams caps?

Something is off

He went from you betting me he would be a 1,000 yard rusher to getting released.

Have you ever been more wrong about a player? Heart over brain, my friend.
Congratulations.

He would have gotten 1000 if not for injury. So. Yay good for you. Want a cookie? Doesnt change who you are as a human being. You are nothing but a troll on this site and I hope this thread is finally the one that gets your sorry *** benched.
