Yes but would you trade Romo for RuthlessRaper straight up. Salary for salary player for player.

Good question because if it's straight up you're buying two years of age with Ben but then again he's missed just about as many games as Romo before last season.

That's a tough call.

There are reasons to prefer Roth over Romo in a big game situation, bigger body, can handle more punishment, extend plays, etc. but this notion that "he has done it" is not one of them. Call me crazy, but if Romo makes it to a SB, I'm pretty confident he'll get out of that game with more than a 22.6 QB rating, which is exactly what Roth had when "he did it" the first time.

The very reasons you pointed out are why I would pick Roethlisberger. He has "done it" for those very reasons, even if you want to point out the Seahawks SB but ignore the other two performances.

And can we stop saying Romos role was minimized in that 2014 season. I believe I saw a stat where he threw more in the first 3 quarters that season, than he did in 2013.

Was our Pass D from last year good enough?

At 20? Probably not, but let's look at how incredibly important that statistic is.

Top Defensive Passer Rating 2015

1. Carolina
2. Kansas City
3. Denver
4. Cincinnati
5. NY Jets
6. Seattle
7. Green Bay

Bottom Defensive Passer Rating 2015

26. Chicago
27. Baltimore
28. Detroit
29. Tennessee
30. Cleveland
31. Tampa Bay
32. New Orleans

Did we though? At the end of 12-4 was minimizing Romo's role in the grand scheme and allowing him to be more efficient. In other words, we were not relying on him to take the team on his back and throw for 400 yards and 4 TDs every game.

All signs point to us going back to the 2014 formula and as long as we win, I am all for it. I don't need Romo to be validated as the best in the league. He's good enough, we just have to do the right things to allow him the best chance to win.

I would absolutely agree with that. I think it's hugely important to keep Romo around 25 throws a game. Troy made a living and won Super Bowls in the 20's.

Yup. But that's how I justify who's a better player. You gotta consider age, salary injury history and stats. In this case I'll take Ben. Romo for Eli that's a toss up. But Eli never gets hurt.

It is not really about a pitch count though. It just ends up working out that way if you play good situational football, move the chains and keep yourself out of long distance situations. Where it hurts is when you need Romo to consistently make the plays for the team to move the ball. When he really is the offense, it is hard. As good as he is, the offensive structure and design is not set up to make it easy for him. Much of his success is him manipulating what he is served.

Even to start last year before he got hurt, it certainly looked like we were prepared to live or die by him again. I don't think they had any intention of leaning on the RBBC to win. We got away with the opener with it because Romo willed them in to victory but even the Eagles game was a sputtering disaster until he exited.

I would agree with that also and hopefully, it snapped them back a bit and we'll get comfortable with Elliott pounding the ball to set up the pass, although, I can see some pass happy games early in the season, especially if we get behind.

The coaching staff tends to get very nervous.

I would, only because of Romos durability issues and age.

I would say they are pretty similar in that regard. Romo is only two years older but has played less years than Big Ben. Big Ben has also had his share of injuries. Last year was riddled with injuries for Big Ben and I don't talk to a lot of Steeler fans but I am sure there are some that are worried about his future health considering his age and the amount of hits he has taken in his career.

These are my exact thoughts...to a T

This is primarily why I felt Zeke was the best choice for this team at 4...

Maybe not but I don't think we really didn't see enough to know their intentions.

NYG is a tough divisional matchup and the Cowboys starters hardly played in preseason so they were rusty. Philly shut Murray down in 2014 so the team probably didn't come in with the gameplan to be a run first team.

I hate the steelers more than any Team in the NFL !!! So I will not give them any credit, no matter what !!!!:thumbdown::espn:

I almost hate them as much as you but I hate the Eagles just a little more. It's close though. And living Iowa doesn't help either because almost every Iowa Hawkeye fan loves the Steelers because of them having the same style uniforms. I can't stand it

Sounds like we are going to have to jump from late teen - 20ish unto the top 10

That's a big jump

They've got a lot working for them that we don't, and it starts with the HC.

Lol. Media has done a great job of hyping up their cheerleader-of-a-coach. He's had better assistants over the years than what is being reported.

Now that's pathetic. Hideous uniforms at that.

I'm not buying that for a sec. Tomlin is 92-52 but is overrated by most. He took over a winning team and stepped into the Stealers job 2 years after they won the Super Bowl and had some QB named Big Ben his entire coaching tenure. Side note - Miami interviewed him but hired Cam Cameron instead.

They "hate" him? I find that hard to believe. Dislike, maybe simply because he is not Noll or Cowher, I can understand that.

1/2 of my family are Steelers fans and they HATE tomlin. Have been calling for him to get fired for years. Especially when they went through that 4 year gap of no playoff wins/games a couple years ago.
