News: Are the Dallas Cowboys satisfied at receiver?

I don't think we're set at WR even with Dez being healthy. He's a great red-zone threat, perhaps the best in the league, but he has a tendency to disappear between the 20s.

Between Witten getting older, T-Will reaching his ceiling where he is, and Beasley being way too inconsistent, I wouldn't mind it at all if we grabbed Treadwell with our first pick.

I really don't want to see this... How many teams that have won the super bowl in the last 10 years have had elite WR's? I don't think any... People always fall for the flashy receiver every year, the bottom line is it's unnecessary. We already have 1. Let's keep building our defense with our high picks and maybe a QB.

That is up to the coaches to decide. He looked decent those last couple of games. How has he looked in practice? Does he show the mental make up to be a starter? Does he show the ability to be a impact player? Does he know the play book? Those type of questions need answered and the general public has no clue how the team honestly feels about him. That is why I said 'if'.

I'm pretty sure he'll be competing for a roster spot at training camp so I wouldn't expect him to effect how they draft... now Street is a different situation.

You do know he has a significant injury that will cause him to miss part of the season, don't you?

He could miss half the season and Belichick would probably get more production out of him than the Cowboys did in 3 seasons.

If Ezekiel Elliott is available after a trade down (if that's possible), I'm good taking him. If Derrick Henry is available with our second pick, I'm good taking him.

I think a running back is going to make a bigger impact than a receiver, particularly a bell-cow running back. We need a back like Zeke or Henry to return to the 2014 Cowboys offense and to protect Romo. Another receiving weapon just makes it more tempting to put more on Romo's shoulders, increasing the likelihood of injuries.

Besides, a top receiver is going to touch the ball less than 10 times a game. A top running back is going to touch the ball up to 20 times, maybe more.
And if we can get a back to give us the impact a Todd Gurley gave the Rams, with a quarterback like Romo, I definitely would invest a high pick in such a back.

Your original point was teams don't need high picks to draft good wr's yet you ignore where the Cards got Johnson, Denver got starters Hillman and CJ, who even knows who the Pats start and the Panthers who do have a high pick in Stewart is average at best at this stage is his career.

Love treadwell but a QB is a much bigger need
That said there will be recievers in the 2nd and 3rd rounds who can help

As I've posted several times previously, I wouldn't criticize drafting a QB in the first round if the team decided to go that route. If not, Treadwell would make a great alternative to that. Of course, one could easily say the same about some such as Bosa, Elliott, Ramsey, Hargreaves, Jack and others as well.

Myself, I would take Treadwell and never look back.

I wouldn't be pissed about it.

When the Cowboys dominated back in the 1970's, they had TWO first round talents at wide receiver...Michael Irvin and Alvin Harper.

IMO every wr on the team is replaceable except Dez. I'd keep him and TWILL the others would be gone forced to fight for a spot with the new wrs brought in.

True. But I'm building a case to get Jason Garrett fired. If you can't devise a game plan that takes advantage of the available talent on your roster, if you can't bring in a backup quarterback to win you more than one game in place of your starter (especially when you yourself were a backup quarterback), if you can't develop your lower round (fourth and below) picks and if you need superstars across the board to win, what good are you as a coach?

You can rest your case. The facts are so overwhelmingly on your side that you would be granted a directed verdict at trial. No reasonable juror could find otherwise.

Those that think Garrett should not be fired, in my opinion, continue to do so because they staked their credibility on him being the next Landry and probably realize that it is going to be hard for anyone to ever take their opinions seriously again. So they shift blame to player execution, position coaches, or bad luck (i.e., disproportionate turnover ratio).

I mean, seriously, the man gave a nice speech and appeared to say all the right things (which is nothing unique or different from what any other coach says on a daily basis) and people fell over themselves claiming he was the next Landry.

I trust in who I believe in, despite difficulties. I invested in more than a single soldier who had a rough beginning. Men can usually stand the walk, given in spirit and faith.

Price is sometimes the burden, not the view seen solely.

Let's look @ the Steelers WRs...then ours.

Antonio Brown>Bryant
Martavis Bryant>T.Williams
Sammie Coates>B. Butler
Heyward Bay>Whitehead
Markus Wheaton>Beasley

It's not even close. Terrence Williams would make a decent #4..Beasely is probably a KR/#5....We need a true #2:rolleyes:

This is a sobering comparison.

Huh? Johnson, Hillman and CJ aren't receivers?

I'm not quite understanding what your point is.

Yep
Several ways we could go, all would help this team. Boost the defense, boost the offense, but to me if a player you like at QB is there you have to take him.

Radio rocking, a monster jam.
Feel the rhythm, pump up the sound"
