Are the players potentially showing their disgust with the ridiculous contract paid Dak?

Athletes are keenly aware of who is & isn't pulling their weight.

They are human so whether intentional or not, it's only natural to put in less effort if you believe your efforts are in vain.

For those of you suggesting that just because they are "professionals" they always conduct themselves with the highest integrity, you really need to read \ watch some stories about what has gone on behind the scenes with many teams.
So what you are saying is that players get upset at other players not pulling their weight and being professional and reacting by not pulling their weight and not being professional? Makes sense...

Are the players potentially showing their disgust with the ridiculous contract paid Dak and letting Jerry know by playing to a much different level for Rush? I don't know that answer but it bears some consideration. Dak "says" all the right stuff and then basically takes the money with no regard for team building. For the short term, I'd rather see Rush and his NFL second-best quick release (2.3 seconds) than Dak taking a week to read defenses and holding the ball until sundown. Getting rid of it makes up for a lot of deficiency in the OL and at WR. Rush is not the "answer." But, he's more the answer than Dak who has this team in contract purgatory.

Perhaps the rest of the team (the little people), agree?

I don't think it has anything to do with the contract. One thing that was apparent during the first 8 games was this team had a morale problem and just looked lethargic, totally undisciplined and uninspired. That changed when Rush came in...you can all draw your own conclusions as to why.
Reality set in...,when media and fans start talking tanking, rebuilding, blowing it up....etc. their livelihoods flashed before their eyes. They may not be playing for their team as much as they are playing for their futures and their own big contract.

Maybe some of that is true, but people were talking tank and blow it up well before Dak went down.

Of course, all the signals are there from CD and his Mom to Diggs, etc.
One look at how shows up in the off-season on his home field tells the tale that fraudo Prescott has lost all respect.
He has Fergie and Zeke on his side and that's about all she wrote for Prestrash!

This place gets more unhinged by the day.

These guys are human; not robots.
I think they don't believe in Dak as their quarterback anymore, and it shows in the way they have played since Rush took over.
I also don't think this comes as a surprise to Dak. I think he knows they no longer believe they will see any success with him.
I don't think Dak will be back next season.

I have never said they were strictly rational. Also, they can be narcissists. There have been all kinds of behind the scenes drama on teams. Some real, some due to imagined sleights.

Do you kill yourself if those around you aren't giving you a chance to succeed?

Not a chance. And it has zero to do with Dak. All professional athletes understand that their time to make the most money in their lifetime is very short. Thinking players are “disgusted” with another player because of their paycheck is (IMO) just not a real thing.

To put it another way, thinking that professional athletes don’t like seeing their fellow athletes cash in on their best payday is frankly not understanding how any of that works. Players may not like each other the same, but “hating” another guy because he got a big payday is just not a thing.

Huh?.. where will Dak be if he is not coming back next season?

I think much of it has to do with the flow of the game. It's boom or bust with Dak. He's REALLY streaky. It's not abnormal to see a stat line that reads 12/20, 150yds, 0 TDs, 1 INT through 3 quarters of the game, and then a 4th qtr line of 10/12, 200yds, 3 TDs, 0 INTs in the 4th, giving the illusion that he had a great game.

That final stat line doesn't account for the numerous 3-and-outs, big sacks taken, fumbles lost in either redzone, etc etc. When the offense performs poorly, unless you have the 00 Ravens or 85 Bears defense, there's a pretty good chance the D was worn out at halftime, and a poor second half performance is inevitable.

On the offensive side of the ball, I think Rush is just better at the mental side of the game. My guess is he making better adjustments at the line, calling proper protections, checking out of bad pass plays and putting Dowdle in a better position to hit the open gaps. Rush is playing within the boundaries of the offense and limiting hero ball, allowing for a more consistent performance and keeping the defense of the field long enough to catch their breath...which of course allows them to remain effective throughout the game.

Maybe I'm wrong. If I am, somebody please tell me why the defense and run game are suddenly better with Dak on the sideline.....
