Are the players potentially showing their disgust with the ridiculous contract paid Dak and letting Jerry know by playing to a much different level for Rush? I don't know that answer but it bears some consideration. Dak "says" all the right stuff and then basically takes the money with no regard for team building. For the short term, I'd rather see Rush and his NFL second-best quick release (2.3 seconds) than Dak taking a week to read defenses and holding the ball until sundown. Getting rid of it makes up for a lot of deficiency in the OL and at WR. Rush is not the "answer." But, he's more the answer than Dak who has this team in contract purgatory.

Perhaps the rest of the team (the little people), agree?
Nah, they are just front runners.

As the schedule got easier, they played harder. Similar to how they play a certain way with a lead vs when behind.

I’d swear its ingrained in the heads of everyone who walks into the building to step up vs the middle to bottom teams and fully give up against the better ones.

I don't think it has anything to do with the contract. One thing that was apparent during the first 8 games was this team had a morale problem and just looked lethargic, totally undisciplined and uninspired. That changed when Rush came in...you can all draw your own conclusions as to why.
Impressive to see that when we are entirely *out* of contention playing against a team entirely *in* contention and needing wins to *stay* in contention.

I don't think any player expects other players to take a lower salary "for the team". That's a fan fantasy. They all want to get paid, and support everyone else wanting to get paid. Brady is the only player to even arguably have done that.

But I do think that when a player *does* get paid, other players do resent it when that player doesn't deliver on the field in proportion to their pay. And on the other side of the pancake, they really *do* appreciate backups who come in and *outplay* their contracts.

Dak got paid a top salary and played this year as an average to mediocre QB.
Rush makes poor backup money and by the numbers has played about the same.

Dak is a little better by QBR, Rush very slightly better by QB rating.

And Rush had to come in midseason w/o getting starter snaps in camp or prior games.

A lot of debate going on, maybe Rush is just a better leader than Dak, maybe it's in the huddle, the locker room, or his stable play on the field.

I'm not comparing Rush to this player but Joe Montana comes to mind. He was never a guy with the physical talent like some of the other great QBs that we have seen but I always heard about his leadership in the huddle.

I don’t know if it’s disgust but there is some respect there for Rush that may shadow Dak due to Rush somehow continuing to win or hold down the fort in Dak’s absence. Remember when that never happened when Romo got injured?

It happened in 2016.Who was the QB? Also happened in 2010 to a similar degree.

It's a possibility. Or they are just like normal humans who are tired of playing for the same QB for so long (especially the ones who have been here many years). It's human nature to get tired of the same thing year after year. Now, if you are a great QB like Mahomes or Allen then of course you want to play with them as long as possible. But if you're just Dak and Cooper Rush has shown that he can get them to win some games too, it's like a breath of fresh air. We know that Rush is not the long-term answer or replacement for Dak but in the short-term, it's just refreshing to see a new QB have some success and the team is feeding off of it.

I don't think dak is as liked as people think. I also never understood the whole he's such a good guy stuff. I think he has alot of Russell wilson in him
Same here.

I remember on Hard Knocks 2021 when Dak was coming off the broken ankle, there was a scene where the backup QB (Rush?) was in and Dak barges into the huddle and tells him to GTF out of his huddle, this was his team, etc. It was strange and uncalled for - the backup didn't do anything wrong, he was just running the offense like he was instructed to do.

I guess Dak was trying to sound like an alpha tough guy type, but IMO he came off like a real jerk.

That was just one scene, but that's always stuck with me. And I don't remember him seeming particularly likable or loved by his teammates in other scenes, either. That surprised me after years of hearing what an amazing leader and teammate he was.

Just to add an edit, double checked and it was Cooper Rush.

Sometimes when people come up with ideas to quiz the great unwashed here at Football Central, they truly need to think hard before posting things like this. Especially the second best quick release comment.

The team mojo around Dak hasn't been the same since the lost to GB. A half blind person can see this.

Honestly thought the Dak n Lamb falling out with each other was going to be a repeat of Dak and Coop as the season progressed.

No, they are showing disgust by leaving in free agency. By now they realize Booger is going to pay his pets and they have to share the leftovers. They realize this team is not built to win, but to make money. They realize if they want a ring, like DWare they have to go elsewhere.

What it boils down to is they know they ain't getting paid and they ain't got much chance of a ring or the HOF being a clown in the Booger Circus of Stats. It only means $$$$$ for Booger's drawers.
