Are we done with the receiver/TE position?

WRONG. She knows.

Cooks is 29. That's where my mind was going He's not the same player he was in the past.
What are you belly-aching about? This is clearly a one-year show it trade. If you don't think Cooks upgrades our WR room, I don't know what to tell you....

You must've liked Clifford Franklin (Noah Brown).

I was just asking board experts if they think we'll excel in the WR position next year, thus can maybe make our focus in the draft be on other positions. The less positions we have to worry about the better.

I'd like to upgrade the QB but that option looks highly unlikely in this draft. I am always for trenches. I believe the FO point of view however is a last ditch effort to elevate average QB play by upgrading the skill positions.
It's hard to pluck a QB off the "magic tree" but I wouldn't hate it if they drafted a QB in the 3rd - 5th rounds that has the potential to eventually replace Dak. I think they should always be looking and trying to find a guy at that position. Seems like common sense to me. There's not going to be a magic replacement for Dak though and I know that really kills "unrealistic" people.

IMO, the Cooks trade takes away the need to hit on a WR in the draft, but it doesn’t preclude using even a high pick on one.

If a guy like JSN (the best in the draft IMO) inexplicably slips to pick 26, they can still pick him. However, if the draft falls in a way where there just isn’t a WR they like there in the first 3 rounds, they don’t have to reach for a guy that they don’t really love.

That’s why getting Cooks (and Gilmore) was so great… it opens up the draft completely for Dallas.

Does anyone know?

Cooks is basically the same level player as Gallup, but neither are CD. Whether Schultz is gone or not, are we gonna add more pieces or not?
I don't know that Gallup is on Cooks level. Cooks is better, but this will definitely help Gallup get less attention in coverage. Gallups best years were as the number 3.

Yes Lamb clear 1 but hes not accomplished 6- 1k seasons yet so cooks is more established.
Cooks 2 here but been a 1 many times
Gallup 2A-3

Cooks was a 1 most of his career, think he was drafted in the first round at 20 to NO, hes a level above Gallup IMO.. i mean cooks has had 1k yard seasons every where hes been has 6 total hes got the same credentials and Amari cooper. sure hes 2 or 2A but dont underestimate Cooks by overrating Gallups potential.
Gallup is a 5 right now.....go get Ced back from the Fins. Opening day lineup of Lamb, Cooks, and Ced ain't too bad.

Cooks deep speed will be a very welcome addition to the offense. They’ve been needing that for a good, long while.

It really was a very good pick up.

They should've done this move last year as soon as they got rid of Amari (for whatever reason). The mindset they had was obviously stupid. I think Cooks will take a lot off of Gallup (he'll probably get comfortable again) and open things up for CeeDee even more. It just blows my mind how they tried to replace Amari's production last season. With Clifford Franklin and a rookie. How idiotic.

Gallup not being fully back and Tolbert taking longer than they expected just shot their plans to hell…

The front office should’ve known better. They’ve covered themselves much better this time.

Gallup wasn’t the same player after returning from injury
Can’t imagine anyone being real high on Jalen Tolbert after his rookie year.
Gallup didn't return from surgery. He was still hurt and was rushed back when he wasn't ready.

I'm still VERY high on Tolbert. Go read his draft report and watch his college play. He is a NFL player.

According to you he was rushed back and was still hurt. I haven’t been able to find anything that supports that. Teams don’t put players back on the field after an ACL that are still hurt. As for Jalen Tolbert his draft report and college play doesn’t mean he’ll develop into a solid NFL player. There’s a lot of players that have had great draft reports and college tape that didn’t pan out. He was having trouble just making the game day roster. He didn’t look good in preseason and was a huge disappointment. He had a great opportunity last season with the Cowboys moving on from Amari Cooper and Cedrick Wilson, along with the injury to James Washington. He simply wasn’t good enough to get many opportunities on the field. Even Stephen Jones glossed over him when talking about our receivers during his radio interview last season. All he said was they still have hopes for him. We’ll see how it goes for him this summer, but if he doesn’t step up he might not make the team.

The first round pick should not be a WR, TE or RB… we already have a WR1 We got 2 capable TE’s and RB’s are a dime a dozen. OL,DL or CB should be the pick.

Gallup probably would have been pretty good last year except for the fact he hurt his knee & ankle in his other leg.

So first round DT, 2nd round TE, 3rd round WR, 4th round RB?
Gotta be careful with a 1st round DT. Where we are drafting, the DTs available may be a stretch.

Other than that point, I’m with you on those four positions somewhere in the mix across the first four rounds.

1st round - DT/OL
2nd round - OL/DT opposite of the first round
3rd - CB/WR/RB best avail
4th - same as 3rd
5th - same as 3rd
Unless Schultz comes back, gotta have a TE in there.

TE would a be a luxury pick with #26. I don't have a problem with it if the guy they select is the BPA but if there is a higher rated Offensive Lineman, I am 100% behind them taking the best Guard in the draft or any other Lineman, Defense or Offense. That's where the possibility for a championship is built. We were hurting for a #2 WR but that is fixed so it is not a high priority. They should be able to draft the BPA at #26 now and then try to upgrade some guys.
There’s a chance for a terrific pass catching TE toward the end of the round.

I’m all in on DT but I’m not sure I see what we need at 26
