Are we past the "pinch-me if this is real" phase on Miles?

I'm leaning toward the latter.

I know he's gone off, but I want to see him ruin an NFC east opponent. The Cowboys are getting to be more like the Giants and Eagles in the sense that teams that don't see them often will struggle mightily with our personnel on offense and defense.

It's a show me league week to week, but can we bank on this guy now? What do you all think we can expect from him from here out.

I think we're past the point of wondering if he will be a good receiver in this league.

Right now the question is how good is he really. But I think hes answered the question that he is atleast a good receiver.

romo had a fairy tale start to his season and now many want him gone.

people get too wrapped up in a game or two either way - good or bad.

LOL is Miles for real? How do we know.

ANY team puts their #1 on Miles? He is for real. period.

Teams don't put their #1 on the other teams #3 WR, or #2. But, as been stated, most teams don't have a true #1. The dude is playing good and has helped Dallas win 2 games . I don't care if "we" ever find out if he is the real deal, as long as he keeps doing what he is doing. Although, gimme the Green Bay game. That will be a good test for this whole team. Or the egals. That D is always up for it.

The guy has shown promise in the last couple of seasons as well. My main concern with him is the injuries. Not if the opposing team puts their best on him.

Double teams? Hope they do. Means someone else will be open somewhere, and I still think Miles can beat double coverage. But, can the O-line give Romo the time it will take for that to develop.

I never had the "pinch me, is this real" phase with any player. I have just had the "damn, that was sweet" and hope they do it again. Dallas shouldn't have to rely on only Miles to do his job. the others have to do better as well. There are so many tangibles in this, not just one.

I hope Dallas doesn't make him a true #1. I hope they keep it like last game. That worked, stick with that.

Trufant is coming back this week and he's very good. This week will be a challenge for him IMO.

a defense can always take away something, Miles has proven to be a receiver who must be reckoned with--it will be interesting to see how well our coaches anticipate what the defenses will do and use the other pieces of our offense accordingly

I'm still a little unsure about him. He's good, but I want to see him play that way against a good team still.

I think Austin is a very good WR I don't expect games of over 200 or even the 177 like he had this past game. I think Austin has worked hard to get to where he is at right now and I expect him to continue to play hard and make plays. I also know he will garner more attention from defenses which should open things up even more for Dallas. Only question I have had on Austin is the ability to stay healthy if he can do that he has the skills to do big things in Dallas

Miles Austin has been one of my "pet cats" as many say for a while now.

I am quite sure unless he becomes slow, gets the dropsies, loses his strength, and stops running good routes that he will be just fine.

How good who knows?

My only fear (not for him, but for this board) is that his production has been so off the charts good that it is completely unsustainable, and of course that means it is only a matter of time until the "idiots" turn on him.

I agree. He is not going to continue putting up th numbers he has over the last 2 games few ever put up back to back games like that. The NFL leading WR so far this season is Andre Johnson and thus far this season he has had games of 35, 149, 86, 68, 101, 135 and 62 yards with a total of 4 TD catches.

I have a strange feeling the 1st time Austin puts up on 35 yards the critics will start screaming

I have a strange feeling the 1st time Roy puts up 100 yards the cheerleaders will start screaming "Great trade! Jerry is totally vindicated!"

I have a feeling it will take more than that.

And I have a feeling Miles would have to experience a sustained drought before people gave up on him. Hell, some people here are chomping at the bit to give him a brand new extension.

I agree. I'm not saying Miles should be getting any extension nor do I claim him to be the 2nd coming of Irvin. However there is a bit of a difference with the critics who many time seems to down play players and are quick to slam them. Funny thing is they call themselves fans? Fans who slam player and seem to get off to that players failure and it is the same folks week after week who seem to find very little they even like about this team. Not putting you in that category

Miles really hadn't done much of anything in pre-season or the games before KC, yet the majority of fans didn't slam him or give up on him, so I don't know why they'd start now. Had Roy been healthy for the KC game, keeping Miles on the bench, we "probably" don't win that game.

Romo might say otherwise. I mean it is completely normal to cut all QBs who are among the most productive in the NFL (All Time) because they are 0-2 in their playoff careers. Nevermind the fact that the whole team played no small part in that 0-2 playoff record.

I don't know or think the majority are critics. Sorry if this offends you but before the season started some where slamming Austin not all never said that. I do read enough threads around here to know we have several who seems to find nothing they like about the team. That is clearly their own choice

Ridiculous straw man argument. You're gonna have to start naming these "alleged" fans who want Tony cut or benched. Something tells me I can count them on one hand, which means you're being needlessly hysterical.
