Are we using Zeke unwisely?

I ask the question becuz he has suffered 2 injuries so far in the first 5 games.

His ankle and his knee.

We have seen him limping and it's foreboding.

I know nobody wants to discuss injuries becuz it is considered a jinx.

But I am really concerned.

If he goes down..

Our season is over.

When Alfred Morris was signed before Zeke was drafted..

We were told he would spell Zeke to keep him fresh.

Never happened.

Before that..Darren McFadden was to split time with Morris.

Never happened.

I do not get it.

We let DeMarco Murray in 2014 run exclusively and he had a great season..

but he was never the same again and retired from football this pre-season.

What better example will we have about what happens to a great player..

who is reduced to pedestrian levels through poor management.

Smith is not a substitute at the position should something happen.

And the WR issues further place the burden on Zeke to have to prop up the passing game as well as the running game.

DAK can't carry the team..

last year and this has proven that.

Are these coaches so deparate for their jobs they can't see this.?

I know Zeke says feed me, but that is just a trademark of his.

How are you guys with this development?

He's not limping from overuse. Injuries can happen on the first carry of someone's career, or never. They do use Smith occasionally as well, so Zeke isn't playing every snap.

If the Cowboys don't feed Zeke alot, they don't have much chance of winning any games. I'd rather have a beatup Zeke and some wins, than a healthy Zeke and last place.

He’s a beast and a star player.
And not just one of the best players on our team but one of the best players in the entire league.

He’s definitely not being “over used”.
It’s not like they’re forcing him 28 carries per game or something.

He was signed to be a workhorse, 3 down back. He hasn't gotten inordinate amount of touches over the course of the season. He's probably had less expected touches when you consider the lack of playmakers on offense. The only "misuse" is not using him more consistently in the passing game.

I don't think anyone would have asked the OPs question about any of the greats like E Smith or John Riggins. It's bloody football and you play to win and let the dice fall where they may. You don;t treat millionaire athletes like China dolls. You play them and they do their jobs.

LOL at crap like this. These are injuries that have nothing to do as far as age or usage. They are injuries that would occur if Zeke had 17 runs or 25 runs. We drafted him 4th for a reason. Run this man like Emmitt.

It's his job to pound the ground game.

He’s avg 19 per game
That’s not an outrageous number of carries
You say our season is over if he goes down so wouldn’t our season be over if we didn’t use him too
I don’t want him getting 25 a game plus the blocking and receiving but 19 seems about the right number and he didn’t get any in pre season so he’s fine
Quit jumping over people and hope for the best
You can get hurt on one carry
I don’t worry about injuries but I don’t want to run him in the ground either
I think they have him just about right

wow, "pound him" ... the unmitigated ignorance

20 NFL carries a game is as hard a work load as I can imagine.

Mix it up - draft another top back and split carries, get Austin or Smith more carries in the meantime

He’s a running back.

Running backs take a beating. They get hurt....... quite a bit. That’s what happens to RBs.

Which is part of the rationale some had as to why we shouldn’t take a TB 4th in the draft.

What does draft another top back mean? You aren’t suggesting we use a premium pick again on a TB are you?
