like TBD; wait and see for some reason they never put that so it puts us in the middle...Should have a meh option
I'm not defending Jerry - I dislike him intensely as the Owner/GM of the Cowboys. I just don't believe that's a reason to claim whatever we want about him. Say what you want, but Jerry does spend money.
As for Schottenheimer, of course he isn't going to be one of the highest paid coaches. No first time head coach ever is. But that doesn't mean money was the overriding reason for the choice.
And Eberflus? A known coach who earned a head coaching job because he was respected as a coordinator and leader. Do we really think he is going to be paid at the bottom of the barrel for DC's?
they also drafted two of the best db's available, to pair with an already talented secondary. not sure it's the coach in this instance. The Eagles have a 33 yr old secondary coach and they cover they hit and will be on display in the SB .
Would it hurt the Jones family to look around league at young successful coaches and sound them out instead of getting the comfortable slippers out of mothballs .
The lack of imagination is what bothers me about how this prized franchise is run.’

Young successful coaches. You’re not successful. Untilyou become successful. Just like the Eagles coach they were nothing until. The Eagles have a 33 yr old secondary coach and they cover they hit and will be on display in the SB .

I see my bro from another mo Rockport voted.
Scatter, haters. Daddy's home.
nothing. it wasn’t a defense of the jones way whatsoever. i’d love some new blood. i just don’t particularly think that was the example. What’s the problem with casting a wide net and talking to other position coaches around the league rather then going back to someone who was already in Dallas before and your “ comfortable “ with .
If his goal was to only pay the "minimum requirement", how would 15 teams have lower paid head coaches?he spends as little as possible to meet the minimum requirements.
we were 27th in cap spending, which puts us closer to the cap floor than cap ceiling
we were 28th in dead cap, essentially because we keep most players to the end of their contract so that we don't have to pay twice for the same position
prior to CD and Dak we were 28th in cash spending. essentially not signing FAs and handing big contracts. after Dak and CD we were 16th.
head coach was 15th highest paid in the league...for the most valued and most profitable franchise in NFL
we signed zeke to a contract. we didn't even bother to print new Jersey's for his #15. all they sold was the same #21 jersey's they had from before.
there is no data on coaching staff budgets, but given trends above wouldn't surprise me if we were one of the lowest.
money was one of the reasons, as top coaches demand much higher and jerry wouldn't be willing to pay that. on top of that top coaches would demand more control and that's the other reason Jerry wouldn't do it.

OMG....you are hanging on every word I say and just making mountain out of mole hills..If his goal was to only pay the "minimum requirement", how would 15 teams have lower paid head coaches?
And as I mentioiend before, McCarthy was in the last year of his contract so naturally he was lower on the pay scale than when he first came to the Cowboys 5 years ago. But obviously it suits you to ignore that where a contract fits relative to others is going to be different at the end of the contract than it was at the beginning.
And look at assistant coaches ... why would Eberflus be cheap? And what about Dan Quinn, who the Cowboys reportedly paid at an elite level for his role to help keep him from leaving for another team? Quinn actually turned down the chance to interview for some head coaching positions a couple of years ago to stay with the Cowboys. Jerry did the same with Garrett too.
The Zeke comment is nonsensical. if they thought they would make money they obviously would have produced jerseys to sell with his new number, but why would they do that for a seldom used backup? Zeke wasn't going to be a focus of the team or a guy the team marketed.
Your making mountains where there isn't even a mole hill to start from. lol But hey, if it got you to quit posting drivel my comments were worthwhileOMG....you are hanging on every word I say and just making mountain out of mole hills..
I showed you that he is not focused on winning and focus is on maximizing profits. 15th highest paid for the most valuable sport franchise anywhere in the world in any sport. #1 in revenue in NFL...
and sometimes you get what you pay for. you pay 15th highest and you get this kind of result.
Andy reid has been with KC how long? and so on and so forth. so on the one hand you say, the salaries are different each year, now claim he was in the last year of his contract so naturally its lower!!!
so which is it?
let me ask you, are you on Jerry's payroll? you are defending him like there is no tomorrow. yet, every one in the media is criticizing him for the same.
and lets not forget Zeke was the starter. Jerry pushed for him to be the starter. he said "we want to see what he can do".... so yeah, seldom used back up at the end of the season when everyone was saying all along, he sucks.
and he signed zeke over henry!!! and henry had how many yards!? and how much more did he cost than Zeke?
geez dude, you are alone in this crusade of defending Jerry and his spending habits....
enjoy it, alone in the corner by yourself, talking to yourself.
done!
His defenses were top 10 in scoring defense in 3 of the 4 years he was DC in Indy.got data for that top ten in 3 stat?
and our lbs were very good, but also the most talented lbs we had as well.
personally I don’t see it. i don’t recall anyone lamenting losing him
Ok, so nothing against Eberflus. Gotcha. Our current roster, Jerry's FA track record and an offense minded draft.
Well when he fails, people will blame him for it.Ok, so nothing against Eberflus. Gotcha.
Bears had a good D during all that time w/ a terrible O. I think you need to look more at the D than at the team's record. No not at all . Based on 14-32 as HC in Chicago with not a second of challenging the Kings of the North. Division bottom feeders .
His clock management with the Bears last year was poor and some believe led to his firing. But what about his Defense. In 2022 it was really bad, in terms of points given up. In 2023 bad to begin with but he did rally towards the end of the season which probably gave him a 3rd year. Then in 2024 after a solid start the wheels come off again.Bears had a good D during all that time w/ a terrible O. I think you need to look more at the D than at the team's record.
I see Eberfluss as a good DC, not a good HC.
