I have to qualify my YES vote.

I am happy to replace Zimmer with a cardboard cut out of a good DC, so Eberflus is an upgrade, but he isn't my first choice, and there were much better candidates available.

He was the Linebackers coach here.
Sean Lee, Ro McClain, Anthony Hitchens. Bruce Carter played well in 2013 after the switch to Rod's defense. Switching Lee to WOLB.
Even was here for Jaylon Smith playing in 2017

Ware & Spencer in the 3-4 orientation.

Otherwords, he coached the only position that shined defensively here
he made Shaq Leonard look all world and then when he leaves and it could just be a coincidence right could just be injuries or we don't know change of philosophy over there but all of a sudden Shaq Leonard looked like a Jag W/O ME..

So, you can tell us the details of their contracts ...
This is like saying Jerry was cheap and didn't pay Mike McCarthy but then to come to find out all the head coaches in the NFC East were making around the same amount of money 4 to $5 million I mean it turns out Mike McCarthy's money was about 15 out of 32 teams literally not the cheapest contracts there's a lot of coaches out there that are overpaid that doesn't mean you have to overpay for all your coaches I mean I love Mike Tomlin but the man's lost seven straight playoff games and he makes $16,000,000 we had Mike McCarthy for $5,000,000 do the same thing continually losing in the playoffs who got the better deal I would say Jerry did..LOL

Exactly. And I would imagine Eberflus isn't going to be among the cheapest DCs either.

He was paying Dan Quinn head coach money to keep him here that extra year 4.5 million the same money he's making with the commanders as the head coach isn't there irony there I mean Jerry supposed to be the cheapest and I'm not sticking up for Jerry in any way shape or form the dude annoys me the same as he does most around here but he's not that cheap... He typically takes care of his assistants especially when he's trying to keep them on the staff longer when they're trying to get out he definitely steps up and pays them....

Where is the don't care option? What difference is a DC making to this dumpster fire?

Maybe that fire is now put out. And a SB trophy will arise from the ashes. Only thing we can do is wait and see, and have fun watching the 2025 season unfold.
That is why we are fans, or should be.
I refuse to live in misery being negative all the time.

I'm so happy about Matt Eberflus's hire, I could even say something really nice about Stephen. Naw! . . .:lmao:

I kid, I kid -- I'm feeling really good about that hire. He'll do well with our linebacking crew, if we add good-uns.

No… see da bears Hail Mary defense
I put that on knucklehead execution from 1 player specifically rather than the coach. Funny thing is I remember when Gregg Williams dialed up a cover 0 blitz when he was DC with the Jets in Hail Mary type situation. A TD was scored and he got fired the next day.

Vic Fangio does that in Hail Mary situations but his players execute it. Bottom line, while schemes matter if a player doesn’t execute it, there is only so much a coach can tweak. A player waiving to the crowd while a play is going on, is not an Xs and Os issue. Eberflus as DC will be fine if they clean up the Dline

Butler acl injury is even far more serious than Diggs knee.

He definitely won't be in the mix before Diggs..

Sorry to hear that . Butler was one of the few young corners that was a bright spot. Opposite Bland looks like then maybe Ammani O # 27 or I’ve been hoping the Cowboys go after a DJ Reed Jets in FA but he’s expensive .

I’m good with it. I wanted Rex Ryan or Wink Martindale but both of them have their weaknesses as well. Eberflus will do much better as a DC but at least he has experience leading a room as well.
Wasn't he a game-show host? ;)
