I’m just a realist. While this team looks promising . We’ve had others promising as well.

Problem is in most cases we have run into teams who were better or had better performances on the bigger stages.

And that’s what most likely will end our season earlier in playoffs than we’d like. Not coaching.

I’m also a realist. McCarthy has received a lot of criticism for his game management. He’s made some very questionable decisions they have left a lot of us scratching our heads. Even some in the media have criticized some of his decisions. I can assure you if he makes a questionable decision in the playoffs that comes back to bite us he’ll be persecuted. If he has one concerning quality it’s his decision making. If you want to keep going on this feel free but I’m done.

Could be. I hear ya and agree but I’m just playing devils advocate. In the end the talent must execute or not. This is a talent driven league. On the most part they make the difference.

The greater coaches help influence the decisions on building the talent. That’s their biggest contribution.

Professional sports is mostly about the talent. We’ve seen coaches with great talent have much success but humbled without talent . Rarely are coaches winning championships without the talent. And then you can run into teams with more talent. Coaching after the fact is over rated at this level. The greatest coaches have the greatest talent on the most part.

If we win or lose a championship it will be more about the talent than the coaching. That’s all.

those 2 no votes wanted Meyer, rhule, rivera, joe judge, Siriani, and others..lets check the 2021 records of those new coaches that were hired the last 2 years :)

all doing well right now huh? anyone but big Mike.

no coach is perfect, hes not but i can see culture change here its not just the 11-4 successful season..hes building a roster that seems to be improving the personality and identity of this team.

It's hard to argue with the obvious culture change for the better, our present 11-4 record, our NFCE championship and trip to the playoffs.
Many fans were originally hoping for this level of success, but now all of a sudden some have upgraded their expectations to Super Bowl or bust, and if they don't get what they want, the HC is a total failure.
I think MM has done a great job of turning this team around and making them winners. I remember Bill Parcells said "You are what your record says you are." Their record says they are a young, up and coming team with a winning record. If they don't go to the Super Bowl this year they're still a good, young, up and coming team with a good HC. They're good and getting better, but a little young for a Super Bowl. They'll let us know when they're ready for the big show.

Yea, 2 or 3 years of consistent caliber performance without reaching at least a championship game then we can begin looking around.

We need to run together some 11 and 12 win seasons consecutively together along with division tithes to become a legit contender.

Throwing together a good season every 3 or 4 years we shouldn’t expect as much.

I have to ask if anyone else thinks the results of this poll show about 25n people dislike McCarthy, and do you believe they are also the ones who dislike Zeke, Coop, and Dak for their money?

I like McCarthy. A working class hero.

The media has been trying extra hard to smear Big Mike but our record this season and his historical record says he is a good coach and we are fortunate to have him.

Not happy, people are talking about the record but I honestly don't think it has much to do with him and more to do with the DC and players. Mike was supposed to elevate Dak and the offense and he really hasn't, any improvement is mostly from the OC. He doesn't really seem to be a good motivator and has made really questionable game management calls all season. The good part is that I dont think he gets in the way of success like JG did but I also don't think he is driving or accelerating it.

As unpopular as it is to say that, I agree. He is kinda just there coasting off of talent on offense and the defense has responded under real good coaching from Quinn. If it were not for Jerry making those coaching decisions for both coordinators appointed, I could at least give McCarthy some credit there.

agree with all that.. this place is always moving goalpost and will not be a happy tome if we don't go to a NFCCG for sure.

Tough question. So far so good this year. But we know the bar with this franchise is success in the playoffs.

I'm guessing this same poll won't be as favorable for McC a month from now unless the Cowboys make it to the NFC Championship game at a minimum.

I will say this. It is looking more and more like the Cowboys have a good chance at taking this thing all the way this year. He brings home another Lombardi he is instantly elevated behind Tom and Jimmy at #3 HC all time of the Cowboys.
It really is that simple for me. Win big or you're just the same as everyone else who didn't win one. In my mind, if you don't win the Superbowl, you fall behind even Barry Switzer.

I think this poll can be interpreted differently.

First of all , I think most everyone would agree to some extent they are happy with where we are at this point in the season . Division is wrapped up and in contention for a high seed. Surely that meets most expectations after last year.

And I think most fans see an improved roster on Defense which the added talent is definitely making a noticeable difference along with the coaching. All improvements which present more hope we can make a deeper run in the playoffs.

But there was a lull in recent weeks on offense which brought some pause to our enthusiasm bringing concern. Was it more injury related, scheme against us or coaching . Perhaps a combination of several factors. I’m not sure one tremendous breakout game against a depleted and reeling team dismisses all of those concerns while it certainly energized our fan base again.

Ultimately the results in the playoffs will be the final measuring stick or this could all be for naught. Although this season even in a frustrating ending could be a building block moving forward although I thought the entire reason we brought in a coach with this kind of experience was to take us to the next level which this poll is incomplete at this time .

It looks like we are headed in a better direction at least defensively so with that we should be happy but some of the issues and decision making and Mgmt on offense is still questionable. As much as we look more poised to make some noise in the playoffs and I feel we could be a tougher out we still must kick that door down with several formidable opponents awaiting. If not then I guess we’ll just have to be happier knowing we have better coaching which in the end wasn’t enough.

First and most importantly: he is not Jason Garrett. Garrett is as bad an NFL head coach as I’ve seen. It is baffling that he survived as HC for a decade. I’m angry just thinking about it.

I don’t think MM is Belichick or McVay or Shanahan, but he’s plenty good enough to win with. I’m happy with that after so long with Garrett.

Its clearly a huge improvement. After all, not only did Garrett show he was never truly head coaching material, he followed that up by showing he wasn’t even offensive coordinator material.

No matter how this season goes, McCarthy still has an impressive career win-loss percentage and a Super Bowl title on his resume. That’s far better than what we’ve had this past decade-plus.
