McCarthy has done a good coaching job especially with Dak Prescott. Up until the Bills loss he was a front runner to winning the MVP this year. That being said, and echoing many others in this post, it does not matter how good a coach the cowboys have, at the end of the Day the players do not fear or respect the coach because of the owner Jerry Jones not giving the coach the power. When the players do not fear or respect the coach you end up with an undisciplined team that is among the most penalized team year in year out.

He wasn't my first choice to succeed ol Red. He wasn't even my second choice. I have to admit he's done a good job getting into the playoffs three years in a row. He's got the team where it hasn't been in a long time. Maybe discipline is lacking, but considering the owner/gm has an open door to circumvent the HC, he's done as well as can be expected.

Yes. For now. I didn't like his play call at the goal line on 3rd down, a pass play that resulted in a sack. We had been having success with the QB sneaks. Why not do it twice in a row. It seemed like their D-line knew where we wanted to pass because they were in our short passing lanes just about all night. They played their 2 safeties back, so we either had to run them out of that look or kill them with short passes in the middle of field, and we couldn't do on either of those things. It's like Dan and Mike stuck with their game plan even though it wasn't working. I know we are deep in the defensive back spot, but my God, we need some bigger players at the LBing spot when we play teams that can play smash mouth football. Our hybrid LBers are too small against those types of teams. I have no fear in teams with a deep vertical offensive style because our defensive style is tailor made for that. It's the teams that can run block and run the ball that scares me.

The blueprint is out on how to beat us but thank God a lot of the DC's and OC's are arrogant to think their own schemes can beat us.

I know it’s a broken record but no coach with Dak as the starting QB will ever win a SB. I’ve been saying this for years.

I think Big Mike has done a good job coaching the Cowboys, all things considered. It would help considerably if Jerry and Stephen did a far better job when it comes to welcoming veteran free agents with good backgrounds to complement what they already have in house, though. They've seen fit to send some good ones away without offering enough rewards for their services. Trying to gain something good for too little reaps no benefits at all.

Give RUNNING back Hunter Leupke some carries and catches, about time to see what they have. In. College a excellent Receiver—H back, tight end.He can play full back If needed.
I guess coach McCarthy on winning percentage is above average. Looks like run defense needs improvement —not sure how injuries to good defenders is current concern. Is Micah Parson or Parsons injured? Think he appeared missing in run support. I guess A great coach would make changes that would work.

fat mike is doing okay. I like his eyes. His walleyes can look at the defense and the offense at the same time. I think he needs to eat more though. I think the stress has been tough on him and he's lost a few pounds. so it's a solid maybe for me dawg.

Ask me at the end of January. I have nothing against the man but results matter.

Year 3 of a 5-year contract with the Cowboys. 3 years with double-digit wins. 3 years in a row in the playoffs. Yes, I'm happy with the coach.

McCarthy's offensive scheme had some people in the media discussing Dak Prescott as an MVP candidate for a couple weeks.

If that isn't elite coaching, I don't know what is.

His scheme was also responsible for the horrible start to the season. No I don't give him credit for changing it during the bye week because the stupidest HC in the league could see the preseason playbook we were running wasn't working.

I would respectfully disagree. IMO he simplified it down enough for Dak to grasp it. But he still made it work.

Problem wasn't the scheme. Problem was, this QB couldn't make it work

So McCarthy made it work for him

McCarthy was willing to acknowledge the obvious, that the scheme was over daks head and abilities (in short, Dak ain't Rodgers). And he altered it to make it more workable

The ultimate sign of good coaching. Playing the hand you are dealt as best you can. We'd be minimum 3 games worse in the win column, maybe more, if we still had Garrett instead of McCarthy

HUH??? Please explain what McCarthy was doing his first two years here then. Didn't he learn anything? I wouldn't call that 'elite' coaching.

He wasn't running the offense then. KM was.

If you want to criticize him for delegating to assistants instead of running it his way that's a fair criticism.

But if you didn't like the scheme his first couple years that's more of a beef against Moore than McCarthy IMO

The question is, are you happy with McCarthy as our coach at this moment. My answer, yes for the reasons already stated above

Had the question been asked last year or two years ago perhaps I'd have given you a different answer but I think McCarthy is maximizing the hand he's been dealt as best he can at the moment. Again if JG were the coach I think we'd be a lot closer to .500 than to the division lead.

I understand others may not agree and that's absolutely fine

I said years ago they should of hired Kyle Shanahan. They missed the boat not listening to me. After that I thought the Cowboys should of hired DeMeco Ryan's or Robert Saleh. They need to get a coach that is hard nosed and players will fight for. Would love to see Harbaugh leave Michigan and come to Dallas.

Happy enough, but at the end of the day the head coach doesn't matter a whole lot while that idiot is still the owner
