Romo always snaps ball at .01 on play clock, Dak snaps it earlier than that, and that I think will help on pass rush.
Dak can run the ball Romo cant.
Elliott/Morris for a whole game !
Dez for a whole game !
Witten for a whole game !
Tyron instead of chaz green !

The giants are not that good, neither are the next 3 teams.
The cinn. game is a different story, good offense and defense, same for GB.

My main worry with dak, is throwing ints, will he try to make a play or just run or throw it away.
I am hoping he just runs or throws it away.

Our defense should be ok for the first 4 games, unless offense is going 3 and out too much.

I say don't ask Dak to do to much ! Let's give the giants a Heavy dose of EE and company. this offense has the ability to sustain drives chew up clock and score. So let's slowly build a lead while wearing down the giants defense. If the giants cannot protect better then they did in pre-season we may become fortunate enough to get some early stops which will place extra pressure on the Giant D to stop this O. Jones back at safety is really gonna help this team especially with scandrick back. I am always nervous for giant games and nfc east matchups in particular but i have a very good feeling about this game. It wont be easy but this will be a confidence boosting game for sure not to mention the giants will have to prepare for a QB who can do somethings Romo isn't asked to do. I think we are being takin lightly and the giants are in for a bit of a shock.
I agree with this somewhat but Dak has to keep them honest. If he can't read defenses well enough to pass or check out of bad runs, I don't care how good Zeke and the oline are, we are not going to be able to run effectively. The run game at this level doesn't operate in a vacuum. You can't just say we are going to run no matter what. Stay committed? Yes, absolutely but don't try to run through a brick wall without a helmet.

Dak is going to be just fine. Garrett will design a game plan to fit his strengths and the offense will focus on a running attack. There will be some play action, he will throw no more than 20 passes, and they'll win the game.

The reality check will be our defense. The Giants' receivers have always given us problems and it could be ugly without any kind of pass rush.

Bottom line: we are all excited to see Dak (I've already got my jersey) but he won't be the deciding factor in whether or not the Boys win this game. The defense will be.

Reality is the Cowboys couldn't do anything last year with Weeden, Cassel, and Moore. Who is that on? Linehan and Garrett? Or the players? Both.

Reality is last year we thought once the defense got to full strength, it would dominate, pick up the slack, and win us some games. It didn't. Who is that on? RM? Or the players? Both.

Reality is we are starting a 4th round draft pick rookie at QB in 2016 because Romo can't go and seems to be made of glass. Will Dak be able to read defenses and pick them to pieces like Romo did? No. Experience matters.

Reality is we are starting a rookie at RB. Yes. A top 5 pick rookie. But still a rookie.

I have zero expectations for the Dallas Cowboys in 2016. Just wait and see what happens.

But having said all that. Still excited to see exactly what DOES happen. Very few saw the 12-4 2014 season coming.

Go Cowboys!!!

I don't expect anything from Dak. I just want to see if he continues to improve from the pre-season. Our season ended when Romo went down again unless Dak shocks everyone. I'm not going to sit around waiting for Romo to save us again. I did that last year. Just have to know if we have our future QB or not.
The best hope to win the season opener is to run the ball down their throats and keep the defense off the field. Morris and Elliot need to have big games.

I wouldn't worry about the blitz too much. Watch the 7th TD he made in this game

His footwork is horrendous on some of those throws. He's come a long way in a few months, but I've seen some of it linger. Hope he doesn't try to get away with that too much of that Sunday.

That clip was just to show how incredibly calm he is in the face of a heavy blitz.

He will get plenty of chances to show that calm because that will be the name of the game for all of these rookie QB's. Pressure forces bad decisions and that's the critical factor. It's not about the throws. it's about the reads and the speed of the game will be up from what he saw in preseason. And if a team can bring pressure with just 4, he will struggle. The Giants like to bring 5+ most of the time but that's against experienced QB's. I am sure they're cooking up something special for a rookie, especially one as highly publicized as ours was. If there was a HOF for pretend season, he'd be in it.

This game hinges on one element. Can we establish the run and keep Dak out of 3rd and longs?

With Zeke Elliott and the Dallas offensive line, the team will be solid in running the ball. Seattle didn't hinder that combination. Start mixing in releases by backs and the tight ends in blitzes, and thing should challenge a weaker linebacker group, quickly.

I don't think he will struggle anymore than any QB out there with a 4 man rush.

Getting pressure with only 4 means Dez is doubled and there's likely a spy assigned to Dak. If they get pressure with 4, I don't like our chances. He's a rookie; of course he's going to struggle against that.

He'll simply move out of the pocket, make more time for guys to get open. The first 2 or 3 times, I agree he'll be rushed, etc... But after seeing it, he'll simply get out of the pocket to buy more time and find an open guy. Just don't let one of our guys get deep while he's out of the pocket or good night.

We're in agreement on that. I'm just speaking to the footwork. One of the knocks on him coming out. He's mindful of fixing it, at least.

His footwork is iffy, but I'd think that if the coaches notices this in practice, he'll work/work/work on it. The guy is a student of the game.

The Giants have two SBs because they got pressure on Tom Brady, the best QB of all time, with 4 guys. Rushing 4 guys means that the defense has 7 guys to cover 5. It takes time for guys to win their matchup in that situation.

I know we're all excited about Dak, but we should be realistic.

Tom Brady is a statue. Prescott is not.

Brady moves around the pocket very well. He has an incredible feel for the pocket. That's what matters; not how fast you can tuck and run. If you like this example more, the Broncos just won a SB because they got pressure on Cam Newton with 4 guys. Cam Newton is not a statue.
