The offense will be game planning also..now

This is my point. I fully expect Dak to have his rookie struggles, but people are trying to compare this to others in the past. I have yet to see any of those comparisons to a team with the #1 OL in football, with Dez, Jason, and our deeeep backfield. If handled correctly, this could be something the NFL hasn't seen many times before. The pressure is not on Dak, the pressure is on the other side of the ball.

If you look back in Cap era with teams who had Rookie QB's starting most of the teams with success had great defenses.

Agree on the blitz. Unlike Rod he seems to like using it.

I have a hard time seeing the Giants getting up into the 30s. Maybe they were just playing possum, but from what I saw of their 1st stringers it didn't look like they were on the same page. And I don't just mean just 1 or 2 plays, but the whole time they were on the field. Maybe it's just working the kinks out of a new system. But wasn't the HC the OC last season?

Only 6 more days & we'll both get a good taste of what we have to work with.
Yes, he's the one that changed Manning's drop back and delivery and that won him the head job.

I will say what I've been saying all along, this is pretend football and we have no idea what these coaches are looking at and season after season we see that the pretend season just doesn't matter as much as we think it does. Does that mean the Giants will come out smoking hot on offense? No, but on the other side of that we cannot expect Dak to do that either. Did we see much resembling real football in the pretend season? Even in the "dress rehearsal"?

I hope Dak is all that and more but there are sure some fans setting themselves up for some disappointment if he goes through the growing pains that rookie QB's go through. If he plays OK, not great, I am fine with him. He's just at stage 1 of the learning process.

And most of my reservations with Dak are not as much with him as his coaching staff. You know, that coaching staff that Booger & Son called out for the poor QB performance last season. They're still here.

Interestingly in the Cap era there has been more success by Rookie QB's than before.
Just my opinion but the quality of play has not been as good and consistency and continuity are in short supply. The Pats have been the best franchise since the cap era began but that doesn't make them great, just better than the others. You take any Pats team and put them up against the 60's Packers, 70's Boys and Steelers, 80's Niners or 90's Boys or Bills, they're not of the same caliber. Belichick got lucky with a 6th round QB and has been the best at reloading and plugging in players.

Dak is very fortunate that he's stepping into an offense loaded with support. If the coaching staff doesn't screw him over, he should be able to play within himself. But fans need to consider than it wasn't Romo's arm or legs that made him into a good QB, it was his mind and ability to adapt and modify at the los and he's one of the best at it. That comes with experience and I've yet to see a rookie master that.

Names like Luck, Wilson, Big Ben and Flacco have been enough in Rookie seasons but we're also aided by great defenses.

Others like Marino and Elway in pre Cap era. There's actually a longer list of Rookie QB success than most realize .

I do agree with your assessment of Pats comparisons , etc.

Romo did use his mind and his game savy to overcome his lack of freakish talent that some of these kids have coming out. Dak has a great offense surrounding him which most Rookies don't . I like his chances more than others like Wentz in Philly with that offense.

Biggest problem I see is will it be enough to overcome our defense which even Romo struggled with. It's going to be fun to watch unfold . I do expect Dak to have some struggles but I also wouldn't be surprised to see him play well enough and we still lose the game.

Then we'll know we've got something. Winning these games is secondary to finding the next franchise QB. And the time to do that is now. If he's not the guy, go after him in the next draft, if he's not, again and again. We'll need to apply Matt Millen's Theory of Drafting WRs to work and just change that to QB. If Dak is not good enough to be QB1 then maybe QB2 because we'll need that as well.

Can't judge Dak by the W's and L's this early.

I agree with overall thought .

Unless of course if he's the difference in winning or losing.

I know I should temper my expectations and "pump the brakes" a bit, but I'm all aboard the Dak Wagon. I've ripped out the brakes and thrown them out the window, full steam ahead!!!!!

The offensive line will do wonders between the 20s, but Dak will have to turn 3s into 7s. That was our problem last year: we controlled the clock, moved the ball on the ground, then the short field did us in. We had the best line in football, but struggled in short yardage situations and in the redzone in general. That can't happen when your defense was awful and got a bit worse.

The pressure very much will be on Dak. Our defense doesn't create takeaways and gives up the big play. That means, theoretically, the offense needs to be perfect just to have a shot at the end of games.

RGIII was a runner, which is harder to game plan against when they take you by surprise. If Dak is going to be a pocket passer, which is what we all hope, he'll make better decisions and be less prone to injury, but he'll be more predictable.

Hopefully Dak will run some too to slow down the defense. RG III never knew when/how to slide. Might be a good day for a screen or two as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear you, I think the jury is still out on some of our fans who cannot get behind the best QB we will draft in our generation. This whole Romo "tap the brakes" crowd needs to find another team to pull for. Simply amazing... The negativity on some people.

You can be objective and a fan. Calling him the best QB we will draft in a generation is just laughable at this point. You're welcome to your gut feelings, but don't blame us for introducing some logic into the conversation.

Pros.....Dak has looked excellent in preseason and has the best oline in the league, a great group of RBs, a HOF TE, and a stud WR in Dez

Cons.....Dak is a 4th round rookie, he has a coaching staff that cant win games without Romo, and the defense is Division 2 caliber

As I have done over these past 6 years since Garrett took over, I will hope for the best but prepare for the worst. No need to get stressed out or worried about the game, nothing none of us fans can do but just watch. I know it is an overused phrase nowdays, but "it is what it is".

O.k.,, so, I was enroute south from Boise hauling road building equipment (asphalt ****) to do a job in page Az. WHEN the cowboys played the rams(first preseason game) I parked the peterbuilt somewhere in the middle of Utah and rented a Google searched motel room(n.f.l. network) and a 12 pack,,, this Prescott CAT IS FOR REAL,,, SPORTS FANS,,,, (trust me.) And thats the REST of the story.
