Arkin watch

That's right, as long as Romo can pick apart a really bad Rams team, that's all that matters. Who cares that this OL will struggle against good teams, we dismantled the Rams in pre-season!

Championship!!!!!

That's not a terrible defense in St. Louis.

You're not give the Rams enough credit.

Also keep in mind the starting offensive line has yet to play together. And the guards showed well last night.

That's the fly in the oinment when it comes to disbaraging the offensive line too much.

For 5 guys who couldn't block... Anything or anyone, the offense hummed right along.

Funny how that works.

Yes. You have a point.

However, Romo was forced to leap and pirouette around quite a bit last night. After years of watching him play, I'm convinced he has a second career as a dancer.

And there's certainly merit in what you say.

But I think the criticism gets added on a little thick at times.

The guards played well last night... They deserve some credit.

I agree with you that Arkin is not the answer this year.

The tackles didn't play up to expectations last night.

But overall the effort could have been better but wasn't horrible either... A mixed bag if you will.
The guards looked really good, actually. They were the best part of the line last night.

first off the rams are an NFL team last time I looked so they aren't just bums playing for them...and I believe their D will be much improved this year...having said that. Our Oline is very much a work in progress . I am sure the coaches would have liked to see a better job done by every last one of them...I also believe the chances are very slim that any olineman will be released from other teams that we might consider a upgrade.

For craps and groans I would like to see Parnell given a shot at RT...I think the cowboys were really expecting Nagy and Kow... to provide quality depth as of right now this team is razor thin.

the rams aren't bums but they are inferior to the nfc east defenses we will face six times. the tackles and center needs to play better plain and simple. romo can't play houdini every week.

i'm a little shocked that he's still weak despite a full year working out

I wonder if some of it has to do with snapping the ball. Even though he was ostensibly weaker last year, I don't recall him getting repeatedly blown off the ball in his limited preseason action at guard like he was last night.

If I were Jerry, I'd be on the phone looking to trade a second round pick and a player for a pro bowl center.

This team can win it all now. But not with Arkin.
I agree. Now is not the time to conserve picks when you're possibly on the verge. We have play-makers all over the field, assume that next year's draft will be dedicated to offensive linemen. May as well start now.

They were 3rd worst in yards allowed and 6th worst in points allowed last year. That's not terrible?

I wouldn't assume that.

They like Parnell, and if Free plays a little more like he did in 2009 & 2010, they won't be going after an OT early... If at all.

The guards played well last night. And then you have Arkin and further behind Leary. Depending upon on Leary's progress between now and April, that will shape how the Cowboys feel about the guard position. As far as center goes... Costa's play this year will tell the tale on what happens next April.

The bottom line is that I'm not thinking that it will be an "Offensive lineman" draft any more than it could potentially be a "Defensive front-7" draft.

Of course I want the Cowboys to follow their draft board. And if a QB or DE or WR come up in rounds 1-3 being the best value, then I'm all for it.

I guess they didn't participate in the free agency, the draft and bring in a well-respected defensive mind as the head coach.

The other problem with supposedly trading a 2nd for a "Pro-bowl" caliber center is...

Who's this supposed center?

And why would team "X" trade them?

every time someone keeps claiming that because we had good production its Pollyanna time on the O line they need to be reminded of two little facts

19 sacks in December alone

5 rushing TDs all year

Arkin needs another year,i dont think he is even a worthy backup Center because backups play significant games if the starter is injured and Arkin will get Romo pulverized .I still think we should be looking out for cuts from other teams for a backup for Costa.

Romo has been making scrubs look competent for years.

This. It's all well and good to expect Romo to keep bailing the line out, but against good Defenses he will fail, have to push too hard and probably end up hurt again.

the giants and eagles DLs will take our OL to school

but we will go sign another couple of CBs in the off season
