I don't get to watch much college football.

What is his coaching philosophy? Offensive style?

Don't really keep up with College, but the coach I want to see us heavily pursue is Jim Harbaugh. If he's available next year, we need to try everything in our power to bring him. Though since Jerry doesn't like to give up control, I doubt he'd be really high on a coach like Harbaugh.

He's old. This team needs young and in your face.

Jim. Harbaugh.

I'm at a point where I could care less who is coach because of the person that coach will have to work with. There are coaches who would probably love to be here and have a chance to be the coach of the Star on the helmet but the GM in place makes them turn away. It's really too bad. I bet some pretty good coaches would love to be here but are not willing to deal with the person or the developments created by that person who plays the role of GM for the organization. I'm resigned to the fact that it really doesn't matter until the GM is gone. I'm sorry, I may be wrong, but it's just how I feel.

I think Art is pretty good. However, I'd like to see his program play some more big boy teams in its schedule to get a better idea of what he's about.

fast pace/spread offense. but his team's can run too. problem has always been the defense. i doubt jerry would let him bring phil bennett.

What do you think about him as our next coach? The man is Texas and has said the only job he'd leave Baylor for is the Dallas Cowboys. Thoughts?

When did Briles say that?

This article from back in June just talked about Briles being intrigued with the NFL.

"I think it would interesting; it's kind of intriguing to me. As opposed to 20 years ago when it was a trickle-down effect (from NFL to college), it's a trickle-up effect now," Briles told FOX Sports' The Audible with Bruce Feldman. "I think everything's trickling up from high school, to college to the NFL. That's why the game's getting more open, more exciting and more diverse. To me, as a guy who deals with things on the offensive side of the ball most of the time, I think it would be very exciting to get to the NFL level with this type of scheme and see what happens."

The next coach will either be Jim Harbaugh or Kevin Sumlin IMO.

guys briles and jerry are friends. briles is from the area and knows about the tradition of this franchise. don't sleep on briles. harbaugh would never come here. sumlin is still green imo.

Been all for it for a while now. Not only is he very bright and innovative, he takes his talent and tailors his offense to what his players do best, which is what good coaching really is.

Not totally sure he'd want the job, but you're right, if there's any job he'd take it would be the Cowboys where he's in Texas and knows Jerry pretty well. If he doesn't want it, maybe Sumlin or Malzahn would.

Also... How about if Briles brings Petty with him. ;)

do you view mike zimmer as old? same age as briles. pete carroll is 4 years older. briles is a very sprout guy. much more energetic and DEMANDING than garrett.

As much as I like the idea, he doesn't fit the bill for what Jerry needs. These guys have there own voice and agenda, something Jerry can't live with. He's gonna hire a friend or someone desperate to have a job or be on the Dallas big stage. Lane Kiffin anyone?

I believe his comment a long time ago. Your quote is more recent. I wish I had a link but I don't. I've read it on several UT/Baylor boards. He's privately said he'd leave for the UT (pre-Strong) or Cowboys job.

briles is friends with jerry.

jerry is a copycat. if the eagles win the division again with CHIP KELLY, he will try to copy them by going after briles.

You don't think we could replicate Jimmy with him? The man knows how to evaluate offensive talent. Give him a big time d-coordinator and let the man bring us back the glory.

Back in Jimmy's time- Jerry was more trusting, less intrusive and micro-managing.
That led to our Boys success.

Jerry is a coach's nemesis nowadays.

He is the Great Magnet that drags everything around him down to his level.
No matter the coach.
