wait, so with all of the "training" that Jones is providing to Red, you think there is going to be a change? It's nice to talk about, but Jones is more about proving that his "investment" in Garrett is going to pay off

He's old. This team needs young and in your face.

Young would never work here because young means no resume to force the owner to back off to get that coach. Young means the same structure we see today with Garrett. Ideally you'd love to go young and get the next great coach but the next successful head coach in Dallas while Jerry is there won't be a guy just happy to have the job. He'll be a coach that could go just about anywhere and only because Jerry told him the right things did he decide to come to Dallas.

doesnt matter who the coach is because the GM level is where the problems start. that wont change until Jerry wants it to change. if you brought in Belichick and told him that Jerry hires the scouts and has final say over drafts and contracts or even just players you wanted to bring in he wouldnt stay and if he did somehow he wouldnt be as great as he is with free reign in New England.

We need Harbaugh. That is one guy who is a great coach and I could see telling Jerry to stick it.

I would not be a fan of Harbaugh, but I would love me some Kevin Sumlin. Brilliant offensive mind, who also knows (and places a priority) on the defensive side of things.

Briles, not so much...

Does Sumlin place a priority on defense? I have not seen good defenses at either Houston or Texas A&M under his guidance. Maybe that is changing this season as A&M's defense is looking alright so far after only two games. Overall his defenses usually are not stellar. I don't think he neglects defense, but I don't get the impression he places a priority on them.

Good observation, guy...and Houston has been known for scoring, since Phi Bamma Slamma (in another sport).

What do you think about him as our next coach? The man is Texas and has said the only job he'd leave Baylor for is the Dallas Cowboys. Thoughts?

Sorry, but I don't see Garrett going anywhere. Jerry has made several acknowledgements this off-season that the roster has problems. He doesn't seem to have the same expectations to win that he's had in past years. Jerry has set up a situation where it's hard for him to blame Garrett. If the offense fails, then he probably sees it as the new OC and/or Romo's health. If the defense fails then I don't see him holding Garrett accountable for that either.

The players would have to quit on Garrett for Jerry to fire him, IMO, and that seems doubtful due to Garrett's focus on RKG players.

Good points, X...as to the offense, I think the press already has moved beyond a this year excuse relationship to what is on the table.

This now is the offense that Jason Garrett built...it's his baby. If his offense doesn't meet standard this season, they won't stop the search for the fox, change.

If Romo goes down like what happened to Phillips, you will see the same thing. They will not necessarily give up on him, they will just go through the motions knowing there is no chance to win with an undermanned team. Still looks the same though. Biggest difference now is that Garrett will not have someone behind him that had Jones grooming him to take over from day one.

I have a bone to pick here...and you already understand that it's not number 4:

The reference was to a relationship being compared to another poster's reference...

I have a big problem with site spell check when concept is the associated difference.

Since this and other postings are concentrated, not upon subject, but a person's value in a misspelling, with intenion for humor or NOT...

Here you go, beat your brains out:

Art Briles -- yet another potential head coaching victim on an endless list of poor souls cursed to be ruined by an owner/GM hellbent on micro-managing his team into oblivion. Sure, why not -- it seems likely that's our destiny.
