If I thought he couldnt play I wouldnt be trading for him. If Romo breaks down and the pick ends up being a top 5 pick it could still be worth it if Clowney becomes a star...

All big time trades involve high risk.. If you want trades with no risks then trades for guys like Brice Butler and Ceasar Rayford will be what you get.

Well in his defense, Caesar Rayford was really good at being tall.

No GM in the league would pay that much for Clowney. Injury prone and never had a reputation as a hard worker anyway. That offer is what one gives for a D lineman in his prime that has produced.
Call me crazy but I would trade next years 1st and Leary for Clowney in a heartbeat

You're crazy.

Dude is well on his way to being the biggest bust in NFL history. Giving up a one for him at this point would be insane.

I don't think he'll be the biggest bust in NFL history.

The guy can actually play.

Scheme fit and dependability are his 2 biggest problems right now..

It is a trick Jerry don't do it, sure today they want this trade but once he shows he can't stay on the field these same folks will rake you over the coals and say how you learned nothing. lol

No, no, no, no, NO, NO a THOUSAND times no!!! Clowny is a lazy player who will be out of the league in 3 years once his rookie contract is up because his heart isn't committed to football. I saw it his junior year at South Carolina and last year as well.

His contact is untradeable for Houston.
It is actually very tradeable....the new team would only be responsible for 2yrs/4m and have a 5th year option....HOU is 11m under the cap right now and would save an additional 600k this year with a trade

But that is the problem....HOU would want a King's ransom for such a great contract and potential breakout player......DAL is around 10m under the cap, so it would not be a problem especially if they traded Leary and his 2.5m cap hit as part of the deal

I think that's only if they Cut him.
It works the same way with a trade...after June 1st they can split the dead money over 2 years....
HOU would have a 5.4m cap hit this year and a 3.6m cap hit next year....but they are 11m under the cap and would save 600k this year and 3.4m next year

Houston would take an enormous cap hit of they traded him.

Uh-huh. Clowney had 2 sacks in that game vs NE; for his career (17 out a possible 33 games) he has 4 1/2. Dude also has only four games to date with more than 2 tackles.

In short, he's a JAG...and an injury prone JAG, at that.
