I wouldnt give much for clowney, as he has been a total bust for houston.
I wonder why they drafted him if he didnt fit a 3/4 defense??
So far they wasted a # 1 pick on him.

I wouldnt think he would be worth what he would cost, if they just gave him to us.

Never saw Parcells go into mouse mode when a player was yelling at one his coaches directly in front of him. Not the biggest Tuna fan but trying to compare Garrett's coaching pedigree to him is ludicrous.
You are changing the comment. I never stated that Garrett had the coaching pedigree that Parcells had. When AB threw that jersey in The Tunas face, he certainly didn't handle that problem player. They got rid of him, just like they got rid of Hardy.

This is reminiscent of the Colts trading a #1 for Trent Richardson after he bombed in Cleveland. Never understood why they did that.

Guys, if we haven't traded Coakley by now it's just not going to happen. I thought that we would trade him in the offseason, but when that didn't happen, I feel that he will eventually just retire as a Cowboy.

Nonsense...

Why? so he can come to Dallas and steal money from our team as well. He is a clown, his name fits him. I said that he was not going to do anything in the NFL and he is proving me correct. He showed his true colors before he left college. I would use the Mike Singletary rant on clowney

Jadeveon Clowney signed a 4 year, $22,272,998 contract with the Houston Texans, including a $14,518,544 signing bonus, $22,272,998 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $5,568,250. In 2016, Clowney will earn a base salary of $600,000 and a roster bonus of $1,844,818. Clowney has a cap hit of $6,074,454 while his dead money value is $10,394,090.

I don't know how a trade works as far as cap hit. I don't think Hou can get pass the cap hits but a renegotiated contract might affect the dead money owed. His cap hit next year is 7M with dead money in 2017 of 4.3M.

My guess is they are stuck with each other this year.

AB wasn't a pro bowler, he hadn't produced jack. I didn't see Parcells kicking LT to the curb. He did give tough love to the producers (Terry, TO) but he also had kid gloves and tolerance to an all time great like Taylor.

Good coaches understand that not all players are created equal, or coached equally. The great coaches can take your'n and beat his'n or vice versa. The mediocre coaches need everyone to be RKGs.

Roll with what left Oxnard. Signing guys now leaves a bad impression on the lockerroom. Clowney isn't worth 1 win if he were to be acquired by Dallas imo. 1 defensive player isn't going to save this team.

What has Garrett done to show that he cannot understand this? I don't think Garrett is a great coach, but I am not into labeling him unfairly either.

I've known some acquaintances who went to high school with him that were from the Rock Hill area. No need to take my word for it, but take it for what it's worth. Heard he was a bully, didn't go to class or do his own work, smoked pot, etc. Every red flag you could think of character wise. Haven't really heard anything else from his career to make me think they'd be lying.

Are you guys kidding me?

Injury history or not, you're not getting Clowney regardless of cap hit for even Leary and next year's 1st rounder.

He doesn't understand or maybe fails to embrace what Jimmy considered a core concept:

Treat a person as he is, he will remain as he is. Treat a person as he could be, and he will become as he should be.

Garrett prefers the RKG status quo rather than the transformative Pygmalion effect.

Maybe a third rounder. Dude has JJ Watt on his team to take the attention and pressure away from him and he's still not lighting things up.

Very few people were on Clevelands side for trading Richardson. If you were one of those people than props to you.

Richardson was pretty solid as a rookie. He just ate himself out of football.

JMO.

I feel JC has the talent to be one of the best passrushers in the game*.

However, I don't think he has that drive to be a great one.
He got overrated on that hit, and then the following season he was out of shape and looking at the draft.

I feel he could be the next Haynesworth. Gets a huge contract and then relaxes.

Another classic example of a team drafting a guy that does not fit their system just because he is rated as a great player. There would not be so many 1st and 2nd round bust if teams drafted guys that fit the system. Clowney is (was) a great 4-3 DE in a 4-3 system. He even decided not to go to Alabama where he originally wanted to go because they run a 3-4. Houston could have traded the pick or gone with another guy that probably would have done great for them such as Kahil Mack. Just because a guy is a great player doesn't mean he can convert to a new system and still be great. It was a terrible GM call by Houston on Clowney. Have to wonder what that defense would be like with Mack instead of Clowney.

As for Dallas trading for him, most likely not going to happen just because of the cap hits but Clowney as a rotation guy on our 4-3 might be nice to watch.
