if Marinelli can't see the interior of the defensive line is an illness that won't be cured with Nick Hayden maybe he needs to be shown the door.

I feel the same as well. Which makes me wonder why the Coach and General Manager haven't question Marinelli on this position not needing talent.

It really bothers me to know that Marinelli feels that way about the one technique position. When you have an opportunity to improve a position you do it. Which this explains why his team was terrible talent wise with the Lions.

This is where I am critical of Jerry Jones as GM. If the stud DT is there and he is the best player available, I take him (if I'm Jerry) and I tell the coach to use him.

Jerry gives these coaches, especially ancient ones, way too much respect. Procure the talent and demand the coaches maximize their abilities on the football field.

I'm glad you stated that about Jerry. He should have overruled Marinelli. That tells me Jerry and his management don't know how to evaluate the team weaknesses or he trust his coaches too much.

The more I look at the draft the more I'm convinced this is the way to go for us. Stuff the run, create lanes for our LBs to blitz, pickup double teams and create opportunities for our DEs.
This is our guy Cowboys Nation!!!

I still dont think people realize how beta Crawford is. Our line is soft. Having a full season of Hardy and Robinson would be a huge upgrade in attitude and toughness. Some of you think its all about rkg and talent. Nope!

Agreed. This is where his lack of experience and knowledge hampers his ability to effectively manage the team. He is not in a position to question the coaches or scounts from an informed personal perspective.

I like Robinson a lot, especially after that performance against Mich. St, but would only like him in a trade back scenario. At #4 that would be a bad pick imo.

I'd like to see where he ranks amongst the other prospects after the combine. It's gonna get interesting.

our scouts get overruled by the coaches too much to my liking.

And if Romo gets hurt again we trot Cassel or Moore back out there to throw picks?

I might be in the minority here, but there is no way in hell I am passing over a potential franchise QB for a DT, I don't care how good he is.

Aaron Donald has 20 sacks his first 2 years in the league and the Rams have never even sniffed the playoffs............no QB.

I'd sign RGIII who's on record saying he'd love to be a Cowboy. He's one year removed from his most serious injury and he hasn't been used since preseason. It's a risk and it's not a sure thing, but it fills the void at backup QB with someone that has pedigree, actually has NFL experience, and has actually seen success in the NFL. (And he also has a huge chip on his shoulder)

If you draft Goff, Lynch, or Wentz early theres a risk that they will be a bust, they still need time to develop, and if Romo goes down it's unlikely that they step right in and lead us to the playoffs. Not saying it's impossible, but it's not a definite situation by any means.

Right now we're all looking at the rankings and saying we gotta get the best QB available since we have an early pick but that doesn't mean the highest ranked QB is a sure thing.

I feel that with the pieces we already have on defense, a big 315lb NT that can stuff the run and rush the passer would take this Dline to the next level and would get us closer to becoming a dominant defense like Seattle or Carolina.

It would make it tougher for offenses to score on us or move the ball. It would take pressure off our QB because we wouldn't be playing from behind as much.

That's my take on it. Maybe I'm wrong, nothing is a sure thing, but this is what I hope we do.

It makes no sense that we keep trotting Hayden out there refusing to upgrade the position. Regardless of the 1T being a low priority position in his defense, a better player there would improve the defense.

Whats odd is(as others have also pointed out) this D became famous with Sapp and Mcfarland coached by DL coach marinelli. While Sapp was the star player, McFarland was a great talent as well.So why suddenly a bum like Hayden becomes "passable" as a starting player in this defense makes no sense to me.

You make a very good argument...............I personally would rather go QB, but other options do make sense.

I'd like to see is draft this guy. Think he'd help our Dline tremendously. Could possibly even trade back a few spots and still get him.

6'4"
320 lbs
20 years old

2014 Season Overview and Stats: Usually the overused superlative "freak" is generally reserved for pass rushers and wide receivers, but when you watch A'Shawn Robinson running around out there on the field it's impossible to consider him anything other than a freak. Guys this big are not supposed to move this quick. Robinson has the measureables of a nose tackle, and does highlight there most often, however he has quicks and speed that most pass rushers are envious of. Cracking the rotation on Alabama's perennially loaded D-Line is no small feat, yet Robinson managed to do so as a true freshman. Not only did he play, but he actually led the entire team in 2013 with 5.5 sacks. His play didn't fall off in 2014 either as he anchored Bama's defense and rotated in at both the nose and five technique spots.

2015 Season Outlook: The stats Robinson puts up are a nice bonus, but when you watch him this fall you'll see he is the type of player who whether or not he finds the stat sheet impacts each and every play. Consuming a double team play in and play out, Robinson is impossible to be slowed one-on-one. Defensive lineman with his skill set are valued at an incredibly high level in the NFL, and if you're an NFL team who happens to run a 3-4 then that's even better. Look for Robinson to use his pure size, girth and strength to clog up the middle as a zero and one technique, then when Bama feels like getting frisky they kick him to the outside and unleash him on unsuspecting guards and tackles. Guys like Robinson don't come around very often, and when they do they're top ten, sometimes top five picks.

Good posting.

If the team allows Hardy to drift into the sunset, then Douglas and Lawrence will need all the quality support they can gain. Douglas, Lawrence, Robinson, and Crawford could develop long termed and be a 4 man rush unit of strength. That will take some time, although...nice direction for the team, although.

Sorry that I didn't use Gregory correctly above...sometimes I'm not very good on names. But I do work at it.
