Ashton Jeanty 5'8"

Yes, but you aren't really filling holes with late 5th rounders, other than sheer luck.
You can still hit in the 5th.

As I've said before, it isn't about what round you pick in. Your evaluation is what counts.

I hear you, though.

Nailed it. Taking a RB at 12 is not a good pick. Build the D and O-lines.
While getting 1,000 yards rushing in a season isn't what it once was, only half of the teams last year had a 1,000 yard rusher. I would also note that some here who were upset that Pollard was let go in favor of Dowdle should note Pollard and Dowdle had the exact number of rushing yards, with Dowdle having a 4.6 ypc vs Pollard's 4.2. Not dissing Pollard, you understand, just that neither was head and shoulders over the other.

And with Guyton's struggles, etc., not to mention our beloved Zack not as good as he's been in his prime, that would also indicate that with an improved line Dowdle could very well prove to be a top-10 back next year.

Agree with building the lines first, there will be a couple of very good college backs available in the second round, per most draft ratings I've seen, so it's not like Jeanty is the only back in the draft next year, if someone grabs him before Dallas all is not lost...

Very few players later than the fourth become good starters. another reason I was pissed with Jethro two years in a row dumping a fourth

can anyone give an assessment on Jeanty's pass blocking?
He's ok.....He's capable.....and willing. Lack of size....is a question coming up to this level. I don't think he will get steamrolled like Deuce Vaughn.

actually he should be pretty good; he is of good weight and strength and being short gives you an edge taking on a bigger player. You go low and can take him down; or get him off his feet. Emmitt was little bigger than Jeanty and did all right

Its not the height. If he is 5'8", 215 lbs and runs a 4.4 he has enough size to succeed in the NFL. His body looks proportional so I see no reason he can't be successful in the NFL.

I am really curious to see him run the 40 at the combine. I don't care what GPS measurement show.

At this point I am not willing to draft him a 12, but if he blows me away with his 40 time, I might change my mind. Then again if that happens he won't make it to 12.
