So, I've been doing some research on Jeanty, who I want us to take. I've compared Ashton Jeanty to Emmitt Smith in terms of styles and measurables. The crazy thing is? It's crazy similar. Firstly, they're the exact same height and only separated by a pound. Here's Emmitt Smith (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmitt_Smith) who I looked up to as a kid. Here's Jeanty (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashton_Jeanty).

Then, you look at their highlights.

Emmitt Smith:

Ashton Jeanty:

It's remarkable! Not saying they're the exact same, but the similarities that I can see are remarkable. If he's available when we are picking, it's almost a no brainer to me.

Jeanty is much, Much faster than Emmitt was
of course, many were

But Emmitt’s vision, balance, and durabilty were so HOF level it made his 40 time irrelevant

Some might enjoy this breakdown of the small things he does well. Easy to go over the huge plays.

Position is too deep with quality instant starter type backs in the 2nd/3rd round. Shelf life for the position is too short to consider before the 20th-25th pick in today’s NFL!

I can't say I would complain if they picked Jeanty but let's be honest, behind the Cowboys offensive line it would be a wasted pick. Emmitt ran behind the best offensive line n Cowboys history. Jeanty would be running behind the worst.

I think they need to fix the offensive and defensive lines. But if they got a shot at a potential franchise QB, I would be okay with taking him too.

This is a 3 year rebuild. It is not happening in 1 draft.

I said it in another thread but I haven’t seen a back like him since AD. He can run outside and inside. I wanted Gibbs big time and Detroit picked him at 12. Jeanty is way better.

Broken tackles and yardage after contact are two of the most predictive stats for RB success in the NFL. They're probably the second most important thing after size/speed combo.

Any back at Ohio State or Alabama can let their OL full of five-stars and All-Americans blow open huge holes and pick up a lot of yards before contact. Yards after contact, where the back has to do it himself, is where his individual talent shines.

After getting 5 yards on his first 3 carries he just took one 61 yards to the house.

I think he's going to J-ville. TLaw has never had a running back to support the offense. Drafting Jeanty makes a lot of sense for them.
