That is what make really good hitters. Really good guys could stop their swing, change their swing mid swing. Its not that hard to stop a swing changing one is tough and most hitters that do it in hopes of fouling it off not necessarily putting it into play.

no no no the only way a professional player can adjust to a pitch is by cheating

Sorry, but they really can't. Way too much velocity coming in.

Here's what Hank Aaron stated about hitting: "80% of hitting is guessing what's coming. 20% is hitting the ball."

Off the top of my head, so the quote may not be exact, but the gist of it is what he said. A hitter may be able to adjust enough to foul a pitch off, possibly, but once the swing is started, too late.

Maybe in Aaron's Day. The hitters now are more dialed in then any back then. Much more science involved, watch Pujols in his prime, Tony Gwynn even or Larry Walker

I did, and I still do. Hitters cannot change their swing in mid swing. Sorry, doesn't work that way.

Maybe, maybe not. Pitchers were better back in the day because they threw every day. Not as specialized but stronger, better IMO.

The best hitters in the game are not any of the ones you mention above. Certainly great hitters but not better then Ted Williams or Tye Cobb or Rogers Hornsby etc. Certainly it's subjective but at least statistically, they were better then, then now.

Maybe. Once can say the specialized pitchers has made it tougher on hitters. If a starter can only bring his best stuff for 5-7 innings and then your hitters have to see 4-5 pitchers the rest of the way who are at 100%. Whereas a good pitcher back int he day may have to 8 or 9 even if they are being shelled or tired. But also believe modern MLB stadiums are band boxes compared to old.

There is a lot of discussion around this. I can tell you this though, when pitchers threw every day, they were stronger longer. Their arms also came back sooner. You are absolutely right about the Ball Parks though.

OK, so let me get this straight...

Carlos Beltran goes to the Astros in '17 and tells them that their "sign stealing" is "behind the times".

Where did Beltran play prior to coming to the Astros? The Yankees for 2 1/2 seasons and half a season with the Rangers.

I'm a Yankees fan too, but there's no doubt in my mind the sign-stealing thing extended well beyond Houston and if MLB had the courage to investigate all teams there would no doubt be additional "eye-opening" revelations.

I don't know who was cheating and who wasn't, but I do know this. I don't ever want to hear about how hitters are better today then they were back in the day.

You know what's interesting, if this is as wide spread as many believe it might be, then MLB has know it's going on. So that begs the question, why haven't they done anything about it? What, I wonder is, what would happen to the long ball and the scoring in MLB if you stopped all of this? Makes you wonder a little bit.

Dang they are as bad as my 10 yr old at apologizing and taking responsibility. Crane is a out of touch billionaire so I can't fault him too much. The rest of the team...give me a break.

Of course @kskboys is gonna love this post... lol
You are implying he got it/started it with yankees. Unreal.

    - Garbage can relaying real-time signs
    - Apple watches
    - wearing buzzers or electronic devices
    Etc.

poor choice to make that post.

The Astros cheated with real time electronic relay tech (insert components used here)
    And that is indisputable.

who the heck grabs their shirts with two clenched fists and nervously and demanding yells don’t rip off my shirt.

like a rat wearing a wire.
Then the rat player rats them out. The Houston Ratstros!

    Busted!

    This is not like steroids.
This is like the Black Sox.

    100 years ago ironically enough.

    20th century scandal.
    21st century scandal.

I would include Rose in there but he will eventually get into hall of fame.

Of course. It's something I already knew.

If you really believe other teams were not doing this type stuff, you are one naive dude.
