At what point do we give up on the Romo-Ware-Witten-Garrett core?

How many more years of this before we realize it's never going to happen for this core? Have some of you already come to this conclusion?

Just curious b/c we've changed a lot of pieces around these four but it always equals out to 8-8. Maybe its just not meant to be for these four in Dallas.

Ware was MIA yesterday until a timely offside. Witten with a key drop. Romo does not look like a 100M dollar QB. Garrett is still robotically preaching the process. Anybody else just sick of this **** with this core and ready to move on from all of it? I mean for crying out loud folks it's been a decade of this misery!

It's been time to give up on this core.

Only problem is you can't give up on Romo now. That extension destroys any chance of that

I'm done with the core. They haven't won anything in their careers, and they aren't going to at this point. It's time to get rid of the older players, and start a youth movement. Blow this stupid team up, and keep the younger guys with the huge upside: Lee, Carter, Church, etc...

In a different thread I touched on this very thing, as I said then "as good as I think Romo and Ware are they are part of the old problem, it may be time to implode the team and go with the youngsters". Something to that effect, regardless Ware with all of his sacks shows up in spots, and when everyone was touting that SD were using back up lineman I knew he would have a bad day. He always does against the backups for some reason. This team has a lot of good young talent, I think its time for the old regime and that is ALL of them to move on. That includes you Jerry.

The extension set back this franchise 5 years. We should have let him play out this season, evaluate where the franchise was and then dropped his *** after another 8-8 season. The team needs fresh faces at these 4 positions.

Getting rid of your three best players (minus Dez) isn't the solution to making any team better. With that, I'm not sure Ware has much time left regardless.

I wish it would be sooner rather than later but it will be later. Problem is the team never had a real system or scheme. Lack of identity. The offense has lived by the "Let's just take what the defense gives us" mentality instead of forcing their style on the defense - because they have no style. The defense has gone through numerous schemes, coordinators, and styles and nothing has worked.

You really think any of those four were primarily responsible for yesterday's loss? And, if not, why suggest anybody give up on them?

I really hope that JG is exposed in Jerry's eyes & is forced to move on with his man-crush.. Giving Romo, Ware, Witten, & us fans to see them produce at full potential.

Yes, our best players are obviously our biggest problem. They're clearly holding the young guys back: you don't see Dez dropping passes or Carter or Mo making coverage mistakes or Williams fumbling or Leary holding, after all. Out with the old, in with the new!

I would definitely change coaches if they miss the playoffs.

This division is horrible.

The players I am not sure about. We do tend to hang on to players too long.

We have nobody left to scapegoat! T.O. gone, Crayton gone, their whole clique is gone, Ray Sherman gone, Skip Peete gone, Rob Ryan gone, Wade Phillips gone, Only Free remains from the oline, New linebackers, safeties, receivers...yet this same sorry core gives us 8-8 every year. I'm fuming about this franchise right now. Just sick of it all. Stop being so damn scared to start FRESH. Stop putting these 3 on a pedestal. To me they are the same level as Dexter Coackley, Dat Nguyen, and Greg Ellis. Good players who for some reason or another couldn't get it done. Just move on before we're all dead and gone.

This thread is also a tad ironic since it's two of our youngest players (Mo and Williams) that stunk it up the most.

A "core" of 3 players doesn't get any team anywhere. If you want a core to blame, maybe look at the management. The bottom line is Romo, Ware and Witten play at an extremely high level. Thinking that getting rid of them is somehow the solution is ridiculous to me.

They can let Claiborne walk too, the guy doesn't have the "it" factor that we need. He's just not a very good player.

And Carter. Our pass defense lost us that game, for the most part. Romo played great. Witten had a big drop and a tough matchup, but obviously nobody's going to give up on him. Ware looks to me to be slowing down due to nagging injuries, so I'd give up on him as his effectiveness gradually declines. Garrett, I see as a big plus and not a negative, so that's a pretty easy one for me, as well. I'll give up on all of them individually when they can no longer contribute at a high level.

Primarily, no. But they contributed. Sad considering how upset they are about the constant 8-8. I'm easier on the younger guys b/c they are YOUNG. How many years are we going to see Ware jump off sides in crucial moments? These guys just don't have it bro.

When they retire? I am just as sickened with this loss as everyone, but we are overreacting now. All 3 guys are at least ROH candidates and they are far from done.

Now Garrett is another story.
